The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

I like the fact that is a suggestion, that way I can pass those Harley trains ;-) Seriously, the factor that most people dont know this makes it less likely that I would want to use it at times, especially if the driver being overtaken could be irritated. ie. Try to avoid some sort of road rage incident after the fact.

In 5 years of riding, I don't even recall passing anyone on a double solid yellow.... I have however been run off into the left shoulder (on the other side of the road) on an unmarked road because the guy I was passing decided he didn't want me to pass so he sped up and turned into me.

He was doing 70km/h in an 80km/h zone, I decided to back off knowing this guy had issues and had sped up to 120km/h to make sure I didn't pass him. King/Vaughan road if that matters.

No, in Ontario lines are not considered a regulatory device, unless accompanied by signage.

Out here in Seattle I'm seeing a lot of simple things, on their surface streets, that make sense. Signed u-turns at intersections, for one, coupled with limited ability to turn left out of driveways. The restriction is accomplished with a 6 inch wide, six inch high concrete strip between the lanes. It makes it easy to get around. Too bad their limited access highways suffer from so much "you can't get there from here."

Are solid white lines the same as solid yellow lines in Ontario? I can't find verbiage in the HTA specifying colour.

As far as I know, lines were various around the continent, and then eventually standardized to white for lanes going the same way and yellow for lanes going in opposite directions.

If you watch Easy Rider you'll see the lines change from white to yellow and back again all through the movie.

They now say 20-year-old Kunal Anand faces a charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and will be in court next month.

Funny, on Monday I was driving north on HWY 10/410 at the split when three sport bikes did exactly the same thing between me and another car. They had to have been doing 150km. I believe it's called "threading the needle" and they did it 1,2,3... before blasting the apex past several other cars. You know, those guys with the banshee pipes who ride like a-h0les on warm days. Just up the road some winner with his vintage Kawasaki café racer was having his bike confiscated by the OPP for street racing, probably riding the same way. To be honest, it doesn't bother me because they only have their own lives to lose.

Had anyone ever accidentally turned onto a one way street before? I know I did once. But it takes about 2 seconds to realize it. Not after your driving and pass a bunch of cars going the opposite way/ coming towards you.

Tell that to the driver of the SUV accident...

People seem to forget cars are designed with crumple zones, and a bike is a 400+ kinetic missile. If it hits anything at a high rate of speed they are going to take someone else with them.
