The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Not enough but then it never really seems to be, when a life is forever changed because of someone's selfishness.
Hopefully there is an utter and perpetual ass-kicking on the Civil side. Now there is a criminal conviction, an employer/employee relationship, permanent disability and probably a fee other things a lawyer can sink their teeth into. Sadly, it won't return the person hurt to their old life path but you can inflict serious pain on the dbag. That may also encourage other dbags to be slightly less dbaggy as they can see that their actions may have lifetime personal consequences (I'm not naive enough to think they care about consequences to others hurt).

That might be a tough row to hoe, given that the employee was voluntarily in the car and the likely conversation that preceded it.

If she’s an employee and injured due to her employers actions…I’d expect a quick settlement.

Probably done already.

Could well be. Any court case would need to somehow prove undue pressure, due to the employer-employee relationship.

More no-plate no-insurance no-skill specials who ran out of the luck they actually had a shred of.
Yes those of us who went to a Tuesday meetup @Butchies saw this area blocked off. We surmised this accident was the cause.

I'm actually surprised that they bothered to fake a plate, given how many bikes I've been seeing on the road with no plate at all.

Those 2 idiots basically shut down traffic in Durham Region on Tuesday and caused tens of thousands of dollars in damages. It took me over an hour to cover 5km from Lakeridge to Brock St. I witnessed 3 minor rear end collisions near me as we were all creeping along and at one point Google maps had 9 collisions marked on various detour routes. I say throw the book at them and also make them pay the insurance deductibles for all the crashes they caused in the area.

Of course, that would never happen. They'll get a light slap on the wrist and be back riding without licenses or insurance by spring.

If you bothered to make a decent fake from a similar make/model bike, it may help you out. Cops may be more likely to let you go thinking that they can find you later. Sucks to be the person you cloned though.

I sh!t you not, probably almost 90% of the sportbikes I see on the roads now have no visible plate. Be it just non existant, flipped, or tucked so far into the fender that it's basically not visible for all intents and purposes, this seems to be the new norm.

And so the free for all on our roads continues to get worse.

With a lot of the OPP cruisers having the automated plate scanners now, no plate at all might be a better option than a fake one which may very well come up with a problem some day if the actual owner didn't pay a fine, oses the plate and reports it stolen, etc...and then pings the cop to pull that vehicle over. No plate = no problem as long as no actual eyeballs don't see it.

I'm seeing more and more cars moving over to give bicyclists room as they pass, but ignoring oncoming traffic. Seems to happen to me on almost every ride, with the last one being in the middle of Snake Road, of all places!

That's because everyone now thinks that because they got to the pinch point a half a second earlier than you you should do whatever is necessary to avoid them............as they carry on without even backing out of the gas while they're in your lane.

Yeah, it's basically the same mentality that some people have driving around cars parked on the side of the road in a neighbohood. Except at much higher speeds...

It has long been like that when a construction/maintenance crew has a lane blocked. Even if they have a "yield to oncoming traffic" sign, it means nothing.
