The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

At the expense of a “Flee police” charge, I think I’d take the tow.
I didn't say it was the smart thing to do. Such people rarely do the logical thing, especially those who are impaired ;)
Does that work anymore? Dui gets an automatic impound. May work for all the suspended crap though.
Nope. Not really. Doesn't seem to stop them though. "It's on private property. You CAN'T tow it!!"

Rest of the story says that some of her other documents were also expired, although I don’t see a no insurance charge in there, so she must have at least had insurance but wasn’t able to provide an updated pink slip…but still, at worst she would’ve got a expired plate ticket for $110 or whatever it is, probably a warning on the rest, and she would’ve been on her way. But because “she had other things to do“ now she’s got a whole lot more to answer for, and a few of those charges will probably result in her insurance company dropping her like a hot potato as well.

"The 36-year-old woman is charged with fail to stop for police, fail to provide required document, driver motor vehicle – no permit and windshield obstructed."

Do tell?

You can get the obstructed windscreen for very little. Pretty much anything hanging from your rearview mirror can technically get you that ticket, for example. It's just rarely enforced unless the officer wants some, "Do you want fries with that?" charges.

I should note that I mounted my dashcam behind the rearview mirror, just below the port for the cameras and sensors, for reasons of not wanting to get that ticket. If an officer ever cited me for it then a quick shot of the windscreen, from inside, should get it tossed out. If the camera obstructs the view, then so does the mirror.

Mine is mounted beside the mirror. It is covered when the sun visor is down, so I assume that is legal........or sun visors aren't.

I have all windshield crap behind the mirror too. Less for the ticket and more for me wanting to see without looking through crap. Camera, 407 and US transponder back there. My windshield has a crack but it is along the bottom so the only vision it obstructs is if someone was already on the hood. I'm sure if I was a dick, a cop could write me for it but similar to you, I will make it difficult for them to argue in court that vision was obstructed.

Imagine getting pulled over for several years expired plates and then being so entitled and apparently devoid of having ever suffered any consequences of your actions in all of your 36 years that you decide “I’ve got other things to do” because “this is taking too long”, and then decide to drive off, leading the police on a “brief chase” directly to her house.

Nominee for Karen of the year.

Agree. A Ram mowed down two pedestrians in barrie last night. In a strange twist, he didn't run.
Video of crash on news. Ram was hustling to make a left and creamed the pedestrians in the crosswalk. It was light out and no weather issues. Distracted/impaired or just an ass are the reasonable explanations.

I suspect a combo of rushing, distracted and A-pillar blind spot. I had to be super careful in my F-150 to look around the A-pillar, as it was massive and totally blocked the left-turn view of the road at pedestrian height. Not an excuse, it's something you learn pretty quickly when you drive one, but it is a consequence of massive A-pillars needed on trucks to maintain crash protection.
