The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Did you get the plate number? Do you have a date, time, street that he drove poorly? Fill in the form online and they will send them a grumpy letter. More importantly, that will show up on the computer when cops pull them over and they will show less mercy.
Sure did. I filed a report before but without the plate, they won't do a thing.

However, now with that plate if I see him be a douche again...I'll be sure to report.

Release order meaning terms of release from a previous incarceration? Wait, so at 16, he's already an ex-con?
My understanding of the use of the term is that it means there has been a conviction. It could mean, for example, that he was given a sentence of time served, with x months/years of "supervised release" (parole), however, I don't really have much faith in news media to get the terminology right. For example it could have been "breach of recognizance", which would be failure to comply with a peace bond, or failure to comply with conditions of release, which would be terms of bail/ROR for a previous charge.

Counted 5 fender benders on the 401 today on my way home…FIVE!

Then add the woman that tried to pass a stopped box truck and slammed into him. All I heard and saw was her mirror fall off and the truck driver laughing his ass off. He just drove off.

And then saw this little nugget on my way home at Bunrhamthorpe near Mississauga Rd…

Seven incidents within a few hours…the f&&k….

Holy. Crash, stab, flee. Not sure if the stabbing was the primary motive or a side effect of the crash.

A driver was stabbed following a collision in Oshawa Tuesday afternoon, Durham police say.

The incident occurred on Grandview Street North near Ridge Valley Drive.

When officers arrived, they found one driver suffering from a stab wound.

Police say the victim was taken to a trauma centre, and their condition is unknown.

Meanwhile, officers are looking for the other driver involved in the collision. Detailed descriptions of the driver and their vehicle are not available.

Toyota vs pedestrian in Hamilton (Macnab and Colbourne). Ouch.

EDIT:
The worst part of this whole situation is it appears that neither the pedestrian nor the driver saw this coming. The first sign that something was wrong was when pedestrian was on the hood.

Four way stop. Did the pedestrian stop? Did the driver?

Zombies that think rights mean anything tend to lose.

Trade offs: Every car crash in every Hollywood movie results in the car going airborne, rolling over at least three times and exploding in a ball of flames. Therefore the government agencies responsible for babysitting the world determined that "A" pillars have to be supersized to several times those of the cars built in the 1950's and 1960's. Add large rear view mirrors and there is a massive blind spot. SMIDSY.

If they're parked on the shoulder facing the wrong way, are they a wrong way driver? 400 facing SB in the NB lanes just north of 11 split. Not sure how they got here, not sure where they went after. I called the cops on them. Image from dashcam not me playing with my phone while driving.

Yes, it does. It also applies to people parked facing the wrong way on city streets BTW.

<Hamilton has entered the chat>
On the semi-rare occasion that parking enforcement wanders through our neighbourhood, they will ticket every car facing the wrong way for the side of the street they're on. Considering it's alternating sides in the summer, they usually hand out quite a few, as lots of folks can't be bothered to get turned around.

Referred to as left wheels to curb. Also a max of 12" from the curb and no mention of snow bank exception. Just because there's a snow drift you can't park in the middle of the road.

The left to curb is common practice in Hamilton as Priller noted. I thought it was legal.

I came across a van parked on the left 427 collector shoulder facing the wrong way. He waited for a break in the traffic to make a U-turn but when he did it an oncoming driver freaked out and remodeled his car on the guardrail. The van pulled over and police arrived. A few minutes later a pickup with a boat and trailer arrived. He apologized for starting the whole mess by accidentally cutting off the van, causing it to spin out. Decent of him to return. No injuries.

I almost got hit like that yesterday afternoon during a lunch time walk. Unlike the pedestrian here I actually saw the car coming and stopped halfway through the road…the car didn’t and missed me by a foot.

Ditto. I got into an expletive match with a guy yesterday, who was trying to claim it was my fault for walking in front of him carrying my phone in my hand, as he followed someone through a left turn at a stop sign. I almost told him that I'd walk over later to make sure that he parked safe. Not every day, that someone looks you right in the eye as they're driving at you. I guess he'd claim I was looking at my phone.

If you don't like vehicles violating you right of way by running stop signs or lights in front of you, and then braking or stopping, then stay away from Ottawa. It wasn't quite as bad as across the river, but it's been getting worse and worse, since I moved to the vicinity.

Brampton driver. Failed at ramping. Destroyed rental truck.

"A Brampton man was charged with careless driving after the truck he was driving rolled on its side coming off Highway 401 at Division Street on Monday, May 13, 2024.
At approximately 9 a.m. emergency crews responded to the eastbound off-ramp at Division Street for a vehicle that had rolled onto its side.
The driver kicked out the front window to free himself, and suffered a minor cut, but otherwise was uninjured."

Well, he's not getting the damage deposit back.

Most of the insurance policies specifically exclude roof damage. I think the intent was if you drive into a parking garage or low bridge, that is 100% on you. In this case, he destroyed the roof by sliding on it. I wonder if Ryder will use that to try to get out of paying.
