The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Sadly there is another vehicle that is tarped up and looked like it got t-boned hard. I suspect there were innocents hurt in this mess.

EDIT:

Confirmed. Dbag robbed an LCBO and wiped out a family. I wonder what it will take for lcbo to take constructive action as their current plan of let them go is obviously not working.

"The occupant of the cargo van died at the scene, while three others — a grandmother, grandfather and their grandchild — died in the other vehicle. Another individual from the collision was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries."
Is it the LCBO or is it the threat of legal action for interfering with the rights of the thief?

How about a three strikes law for people stopping a crime. They get three swings of the bat.

Enough is enough. Sentence these guys to community service, target holders at a rifle range

How many did Marco Muzzo kill.

Was the robber known to police and if yes, when was his last arrest?

It's the employees who would get their butts kicked by the thieves, which isn't something they're paid to do. And a little liability if the "suspected" shoplifter is injured.

ID check on the way in mostly deals with both of those issues. I thought it was a good idea in concept, not sure why it was killed before they had a chance to evaluate it. Maybe the first day had a door blocked for the entire day by a Karen screaming about communism.

That was a pilot idea but it lasted only a few days before it was axed. People were arguing discrimination. If you don't have enough money to have ID, you dont have enough to buy booze.
People may also complain that it infringes on their right to anonymously by booze as the only way it could work is scanned and recorded entry. There was a time this was tracked BTW, even needing a permit for personal purchases and it was recorded what and how much one bought... Any solution will be an arms race of sorts but fake ID is an easy defeat of this system (here is my Florida, wherever ID...). There was that group, just arrested, creating "synthetic IDs" (fancy fake) that were good enough to fool banks, my guess is the more organized criminals could also just do that to defeat the system.

How to stop it? The lockable double door like a jewellery store? Locked magnetic exit gates the counter person needs to release like some Canadian Tire auto-centre exits? Costco like check on exit with a guard allowed to use force? Lockable carts? Counter pick-up model where you give them a list and then they go get it, bottles handed over after you pay (it was like this once BTW)? Move all booze to corner stores and there will be no LCBOs to rob? Actually enforcing the laws with real penalties? Snipers?

Home Depot now has carts with lockable wheels. From experience, they actually work, mine locked up and I had to leave a cart full of tools behind at the door :) . I did actually have them lock my cart on exit a week or so ago by mistake, the women right there came over and apologized. No idea how or who controls it but it does stop the cart pretty much dead but it won't stop a bag/basket etc.

Given the responses that I recently received to a comment on an OPP Facebook post about the illegality of tinted license plate covers, it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Do like any self respecting 15 year old would do and have someone with ID buy it for you.

You had me at snipers.

There's video of the suspect and cop cars speeding down the wrong way on the highway..
I was surprised to see the cops still pursuing it at that point.

Agreed. Cops were also westbound in the westbound lanes. Cop pursuing into traffic is crazy. If someone just misses the bad guy, their is a decent chance they are unstable and get smoked by the cop.

There’s a guy ripping around our area with literally blacked out plates…reported it as I can see if very close behind him, nothing changes.

Guy is a menace in the area ripping around…but cops don’t care, and won’t care until he hits someone.

Have been tempted to let loose a can of spray foam into muffler of similar offender in my area with a note on windshield saying "stop driving like an Ahole"

And of course, if he does kill someone, they won't be able to identify him because of the plate cover.

Young bastard hides the 335xi coupe in his garage….keeps the GTI and a 328 in pieces in the driveway blocking the garage.

If you all recall I had a situation with a douche coming at me with my kids because I yelled at him to slow down…they’re buddies and always working on their steaming piles of 💩 cars.

Bad drivers thread or failure of the justice system thread? Hit and run, intentionally run over a pedestrian, flight from police and driving ban is 1.5 years? A decade should be the lowest starting point for that. Driving is clearly a right not a privilege.

Nearly a year to the day Joshua Wheatley was caught on camera running a man over in an apparent road rage incident, the 22-year-old has been given a conditional sentence for six months, including partial house arrest with a curfew.

Wheatley pleaded guilty in December to dangerous driving when South Simcoe Police said he ran into a pedestrian with his car, then sped off in early May of last year.

Wheatley, who is from Bradford, was also initially charged with assault with a weapon and flight from police. Those charges were withdrawn on Tuesday. Wheatley will then be on probation for 12 months and banned from driving for a year and a half.

The court heard the Barrie man hit by Wheatley’s car was trying to stop Wheatley from taking off after he said Wheatley backed his car into his vehicle along the ninth line while both were stuck in heavy traffic.

After hitting the man with his car, police said Wheatley then fled the scene and was eventually stopped along the 10th sideroad in Bradford, only to take off again and get boxed in by officers near the 10th line before finally being taken into custody.

The court heard the 35-year-old man victim has since recovered from his injuries.

His lawyer told the court Wheatley wasn’t trying to hit the man who had jumped in front of Wheatley’s car before being struck.

The Crown told the court Wheatley was trying to take off from the scene and did nothing to avoid hitting the man.

The Crown says, “If someone is foolish or angry enough to get in front of your car…as a driver…you’ve got to use the brake pedal. And certainly, by the time the gentleman is on his hood, that’s an option. And it is not an option that is exercised.”

The driving ban and sentence is too small to do any good in this case.

The more I think of these an extended driving ban (he did not get that) just gets ignored anyways and it is an extended punishment that prevents people from being self supported. I think a custodial sentence (he also did not get that) is the better option. Maybe one or two years in the clink for this guy to give him some time to reflect, then back to G1...

Next offence longer time in the clink. Can't drive when behind bars...

So his excuse was because he was on drugs? LOL

Wheatley told the court last week he was in a manic state at the time of the crash because of a steroid he was taking called Trenbolone, which his lawyer told the court has been known to cause increased aggression and violent behaviour.

“I just think on any other day, this wouldn’t have happened if I wasn’t taking that stuff…because that’s not me at the end of the day,” said Wheatley.

There are riders that do similar things.

"Trenbolone, also known as trienolone or trienbolone, is a steroid used on livestock to increase muscle growth and appetite. To increase its effective half-life, trenbolone is administered as a prodrug as an ester conjugate such as [trenbolone acetate], trenbolone enanthate, or trenbolone cyclohexylmethylcarbonate."

I somehow doubt it was by prescription.

Okay, so we're back to the drunk defense. "I didn't know what I was doing."

Steroids, just what we need today. Drivers with bigger muscles and smaller brains.

Video of crash. Not sure what the cops did to screw up the flight charge. They had him stopped once and he took off. That should have been a slam dunk. No need for a plea deal in court, the other charges were also well supported by evidence.
