The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Always have a machete nearby in case you have to crack open a coconut or blaze a trail through a tropical jungle. It shows absolutely no sign of premeditated intent. SF
You spelled "self-defense" wrong. Although a machete would be very low on my list of weapons to use in a confined space.

@GreyGhost

K-W has the second highest insurance premiums in the province after Thunder Bay.

Or if one needs to slice coconuts in half and make clip-clopping noises ?
So I can carry a machete on my belt downtown as long as I am carrying some coconuts that I need to open? Sounds like a plan. I'm not sure where to get green coconuts here though and a machete isn't all that helpful for a brown coconut.

I once blew past a couple of cops that were waiting to turn out of the International Centre substation at well over the limit, on a Honda 250 Elite, with a compound blow slung across my back. I just managed to see one looking shocked, while the other pounded the steering wheel while apparently laughing hysterically, as I went past them.

An officer showed a fair bit of interest in me as I was unloading a half dozen swords, some armour, a couple of bows, and a dozen arrows from the back of my car for a photo shoot, but never bothered to come over to check on me.

Brampton is putting in so many speed cameras and expecting to hand out so many tickets that they are opening a fully staffed camera processing centre to expedite the fundraising.

I'm guessing that this plan for increasing revenue came about during discussions on the now scrapped plan to dissolve Peel Region. I'm not a fan of our mayor, who was elected purely on name recognition.

At least they're honest about 'generate increased penalty revenue.'

Cousins got the flash yesterday, he's now trying to figure out how fast he was going in his boss' car. He'll know in about 2 months.

You know at one point I was 100% against red light, speeding camera's filthy cash grab and all that...
Now, to a degree I am in favor of them, policing the roads is ineffective, no one seems to care of understand why traffic laws/rules are in place.
Our license system has failed might as well cash in on people lack of patience... I would not be surprised to see Brampton as the #1 traffic camera location in Ontario if not Canada..

It's hard to beat parkside drive. Ridiculously low speed limit and a hill are a recipe for revenue generation.

There's only one problem with that: Speeding isn't the worst thing that's going on out there. If it would free up officers to deal with other sorts on infractions then all good, however, odds are that officers will continue to prioritize speeding infractions over others. I see people run stale yellows and reds all of the time, frequently right in front of police, with no repercussions for example. Unsignalled lane changes are the norm, rather than the exception. People roll right through stop signs every time that I'm on the road. People simply don't understand that you are required to stop behind the stop line or you have, in fact, run a stop sign or light under the law. And I routinely have to creep forward, carefully, when a light changes because I can't see past the vehicle in the left turn lane, that is stopped in the crosswalk. Having been hit from behind on my bike while doing this makes me more than a little edgy, every time I have to do this for safety.

I'm all in favour of cameras at intersections in residential areas. I'd rather see that and perhaps make things a bit safer for pedestrians rather than someone going 75 in a 60 on Mayfield or whatever road.

Whenever I'm out for a walk, I encounter at least one person barely stopping which requires me to be extra aware.

When I post about these incidents online, I'm to blame because I'm not wearing a strobe light on my head, because it's my fault drivers don't stop.

When I was in Australia I was shocked how many speed cameras they have. Poland, same thing. All over the place.

It frees up the police to do other work, but as @Rob MacLennan stated….traffic enforcement will be prioritized because it’s easy.

It’s ineffective due to the number of cars and roads, but it’s easy.
