The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

This has been going on for decades, nothing new here move along.

We've lived in Orangeville for over 30 years. When our kids were getting their licences (about 20 years ago), they had to wait months to get a road test slot because all the spaces were pre-booked by Brampton Driving Schools. When Graduated licensing came into effect it actually got much worse. The reason, these same big city residents could come up here and pass their G2 Exit without the need to demonstrate the skills needed to operate a vehicle on a 400 Series highway! We simply don't have a multi-lane roadway with a posted 100 km speed limit within 35 minutes of town. Since the road test is shorter than the time allows, they are not able to test in that environment. It shouldn't be any wonder why there is such carnage on the 410 every day.
I agree with every word you say. It's ridiculous that this is allowed.

IMO, if you have a certain postal code you shouldn't be allowed to take the test outside of your main zone of travel.

This would allow for LOTS of people to get hired by SO to effectively clear the backlog and keep up with demand. Win-win...except for those that aren't capable of actually driving on the 400 series highway, but not much loss there.

Another olg winner. They seem to be over represented in hit and runs.

“This win will allow us to purchase a beautiful home and provide the funds for the best education for our daughters,” he said. “I feel so privileged every day to live in a country where my family is safe and happy!”

If it's only one million he isn't going to get a beautiful home and uni education for a couple of kids in the GTA.

It was six years ago. Things weren't quite as ridiculous then. I'm glad his family is safe. Obviously he doesn't feel that others deserve similar consideration. Asshat.

Wouldn't it be nice if Dougie fast tracked a fix on that as fast he does land rezoning.

Imodium sales would skyrocket of they made postal code testing retroactive.

Retroactive will never happen. Hell, they won't even cancel booked tests so even after the change there will be months of idiots getting tested. It will be interesting to see what games are played. As I understand it, many of the test slots are pre-booked by driving schools. Does Brampton all-star driving school move their corporate address to orangeville? Ideally, the drivetest center would type in the address printed on your license and if it was outside of the catchment area, tell you to f off. Same as public/catholic schools. You don't have to like the catchment areas but it's almost impossible to get an exemption.

IF, and big IF, govt does anything there should be no exemptions.

Your postal code is within this catchment area, this is/are your testing centre(s). Obviously GTA has more than one that deals with 400 series.

If you don’t like it? Too bad so sad.

No point to link it to driving school office address as that’s easily fraudulent.

lol isn’t this old news?
About 10 years ago a co-worker tried and failed three times for his G in a older Honda Civic. For his fourth attempt he went to Bancroft and passed.
To celebrate he bought a new GM SUV. Within a month all four corners had small dings and one crash that needed major body work.
I very much agree with doing your test nearest your postal code.

When I moved to Canada back in 1992 I had 60 days to get my drivers license.
When I took the test it was in a compound on Airport Rd in Brampton.
I remember thinking 'wow this is a joke compared to the test I had to take back in Belgium'
I failed my first motorcycle test there (John Rhodes Driver Examination Centre). The M.O.S.T. Test, if I remember correctly. They had you do this stupid slalom between cones, at a walking pace. Funny thing; trying to keep a centrifugal clutch engaged on a 250cc scooter, at a walking pace, is pretty damned hard. My toes brushed the ground at the top of the cones, when I was turning around, and they failed me for "not being in control." I got the measurements of the course, made my own that was twice as hard, then practised for two weeks. Took it again and no issues.

I aced mine at the 401 / Keele playground. I was told the course as laid out for OPP Harleys and I showed up on a 50 cc Honda Cub.

I can't remember how a person got a licence back then but if you failed you had to walk the bike home. I lived at Danforth and Woodbine. When you booked your appointment you only got a one way pass to the test centre.

I had been riding my scooter to Sheridan on Steeles, and managed to get to the testing centre on Airport alive. That should have been an automatic pass, by itself :ROFLMAO:

I also aced my bike test at the 401 / Keele back in 1973. I took mine on a 100cc Kawasaki enduro, so it was very easy:D. A few months later I bought a BSA 650 Lighting.

74 in Niagara Falls on a 72 Yamaha RT1. It was a joke, TBH. 5 minutes, tops. maybe 6 if you hit a red coming through the intersection both times.

yellow - Service Ontario
blue - Cones of Shame™ area
green - tester/observer
red - test route - 1KM +/- 3m

My mother got her license some time around 1958, in New Brunswick. The test was done in Sackville and she lived in Dorchester, at the time. She drove the 10 miles in a blinding snow storm. She had her license within 10 minutes and was on her way back home. The man who was to perform the test was behind her all the way from Dorchester.

Need a list to tell what cars are from which Brampton driving school.

We have province plates, maybe we should have stickers on them to indicate the suburb your hailing from. Give people a warning they are dealing with someone that may not have a great concept of the rules of the road.
