The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Every time, and I mean EVERY time I drive south on the 404 in the afternoon there is people cruising at 90 in the left lane in the 110 zone. Then once the speed limit drops to 100 and the 3rd lane opens up at wellington they gas it and do 115. It's so bizarre.
Personally, I like to pretend that the passing lane is an oncoming lane, pass quick and move right as it would be appropriate in those circumstances.

No contact so single vehicle crash.

The knee jerk reaction to avoid a collision makes it hard to avoid the single vehicle status. The initiator gets away Scot free.
Maybe, maybe not. With video at least the one who crashed doesn't catch a charge.

Hwy 11 near hearst. Truck driving on the wrong side of the road for no obvious reason. Oncoming truck serves to avoid and ends up in the ditch. I would consider this not at fault as he had no options but I am sure insurance will use it as a chance to screw him. At fault truck appeared to have no reaction. Asleep?

From what I understand, Hwys 11 & 17 up north are a real gamble when traveling. A lot of bad driving is blamed on Brampton truckers.

I like what Arizona is doing, we should import this to Ontario:
We really need this here.
It wasn't bad going to Toronto this time, but in Toronto, coming back from Welland in the 110 zone going 90, and coming home it wasn't good.
We do have that rule here.

What we don’t have a police officers and judges that give a ****.

I’ll second that. When I’m running 11 thru the north, I’ll ride or drive behind transports when the sun is down.

I’ve seen a lot of semis napping in the ditches of 11 over the years.

Sort of. We have a philosophy but not a clear law. The closest we have is "Slow vehicles to travel on right side
147 (1) Any vehicle travelling upon a roadway at less than the normal speed of traffic at that time and place shall, where practicable, be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic or as close as practicable to the right hand curb or edge of the roadway. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 147 (1)." or maybe "Unnecessary slow driving prohibited
132 (1) No motor vehicle shall be driven on a highway at such a slow rate of speed as to impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic thereon except when the slow rate of speed is necessary for safe operation having regard to all the circumstances. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 132 (1)."

Cop can be grumpy but if you are travelling at the speed limit, they don't have a lot to work with. Even if you are under the speed limit, you have a pretty good argument about that being the max allowable speed and you aren't that far under the maximum allowed.

GR86 driver going for a GTA (the game) high score. No charges announced yet but as a start, leaving the scene causing injury (maybe x2), attempted murder x2 (lady and cop), a pile of charges related to bumper cars with the cops, etc.

"Toronto police say a black sedan became involved in several collisions.

Two adult patients were transported to the hospital, Toronto paramedics say. One has serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the other suffered minor injuries.

Police say the driver involved left the scene in an unknown direction.

Shortly after, officers were called to the area of Highway 27 and Albion Road, less than two kilometres away from the initial scene, following reports that a woman had been pushed out of a vehicle.

Police said they arrived and apprehended the driver. During the arrest, one officer was injured, and several police vehicles were damaged."

Two drivers caused a problem on the 401 years ago by doing exactly 100 KPH while side by side. They caused a traffic jam in doing so, were charged and IIRC convicted with obstructing traffic.

Governors on big rigs achieve the same result on a regular basis.

If they were the ones near port hope, that was a protest for one getting a ticket for 10 over shortly before. Cops can always be ***** no matter what you are doing.

The opp police scanner alone is enough to keep this thread hopping. In the past 10 minutes there has been a tractor trailer from a driving school disabled in a live lane on the highway and it has no working hazard lights, a sidewalk plow in lane 2 on the 401 going very slowly, a pickup disabled in a live lane and refusing a tow and a car on the qew in the left lane with its hazards on, furniture on roof and doors flapping in the breeze.

What scanner do you use?
