Tech inspection at TMP

Just ride it, the bike will just tip in quicker into the corner but you don't know where to turn in yet anyway so you dont have to change your lines. You'll be fine.

This.

Don't do anything until you ride it.

^ Dude, honestly, I think you're putting way too much thought into this.
Get your new tires on and just ride the track.
You're not competing for a podium, you don't need to squeeze every ounce of performance out of your tires/suspension.
Just get out there and enjoy it.

The switch from the old 190/50 to the new 190/55 will come just a couple of days before my track day.
I'm going to a 200/55, no idea how my R1 is gonna handle!! lol :) Probably won't get a chance to ride it on the 200 before my track school day.

The switch from the old 190/50 to the new 190/55 will come just a couple of days before my track day. Once again, I goofed up. Not only I won't have time to get used to the new tire profile, but also I completely failed to think about the obvious change of geometry (rear will raise almost 10mm!!), which will further increase the difference in handling characteristics and the way I know it.. :(

My suspension was set up on the 190/50, so with the new tire size it shouldn't need adjustment, should it?

Maybe the best option I have is to raise the front 10mm, can somebody confirm? And then...too bad I don't own a front stand that goes in the steering... you're probably laughing at your computers, but it feels like this first track day won't be so perfect as I imagined it..
men just ride the damn things..... and the best advice i can give u is, do not listen to anything that TRFB (Jamie) has to say

I'm at work, they pay me to think as hard as I can! :laughing9:

Jamie is in slightly deeper crap, hope you can swim ;)

Yea, ok, I'll just ride it and see how it feels. Or...maybe I can sit further back in the seat and move more weight to the rear..hmmm

^^Second time today you took the words out of my mouth....

I understand the nerves and questions for a first time track rider but jeezzz....

NO!! Say it isn't so!!!

Oh well, fast on the straights, slow in the corners, that's how I roll ;)

Installed the new 190/55 tonight. Went out for a short spin, which extended to a 2 hour ride :) All I can say is---WOW! I'm in love with 190/55! I thought I'll need to get used to, but I was wrong---it is so easy to do quick turn in, effortless! I love the new tire, and I don't think I need to touch the bike as I thought (raising front, etc..), it's just perfect! I'm excited about my bike all over again, just as I was when I first got it :D

Few of our riding group were out at TMP yesterday. They did not tech the bikes at all

I hope that won't be the case at my track days. I diligently spend enough time to prepare my bike to be safe not only for me, but also for the other people sharing the track with me, so it is only fair to expect the other riders to be doing the same..

Was it a tmp ran track day?

Red Dawn Entertainment

I would hope everyone else does the same as well. I know our groups riders spent two weeks prepping the bikes.

To be fair I think red dawn operates more as a private club than a public trackday organizer. Still you should have aware/notified on how the day runs.

Jeebuz

Red Dawn is famous around these parts for their trackdays.. or I guess infamous would be better term.

Do a search, you'll be entertained.... and further, you'll likely never ride with them again.

LOL I just read a thread that was a pissing contest between groups of people hating on each other not to mention the typical what appears to be female dick riding that goes on. This forum in my opinion tends to be a joke so I only look at it as entertainment and really only trust people I have met in the flesh for advice.

I personally have only ever done FAST race days so really cant comment on anyone elses track days. The people who went yesterday said they had a great time and it was decently organized with no specific safety concerns other then the lack of tech inspection. Maybe things have changed since 2010.

That being said I like things to be extremely structured and would probably have rode yesterday since it was such a small group but would have likely never returned.

I believe so as well since TMP was the one who told our group about it.
