TD wants to chase away all customers

just insured my new to me r1 2006, im 27 have my shop/house/life/car/bike with them 5 bundle discount= 30% savings!
state farm bike- $95/ month :D

my dad went from TD to Riders Plus from 2400 per year to 1800 on his harley too, its worth the call, they dont insure SS bikes though

Just got my renewal package in the mail from Primmum/TD. Last year was 2800, for 21 male with a GS500, G2M2 clean record. This year... 4000. No incidents at all last year as well

I think I'll take my business elsewhere

LOL! If my logic is right, with these massive 50-100% increases of TD premiums, person would say that 25-50% of all riders insured with TD made write-off claims for their bikes last year!

i was told this about Td ..i was going to cancel my insurance i have 12 plus years to go to Td.. my broker said dont be surprised if the jack up your rates soon.. lucky i stayed with them

I'm confused by this. Maybe its because I don't know too much about insurance policies but I thought rates are subject to change at every renewal. If this is correct, why did you stay with TD even though your broker said the rates would rise?

No i stayed with Wawanesa after she told me Td does this......

Well folks, I'm the OP with the FZ6, whose full coverage insurance with TD Meloche Monnex increased from $700 to $1,025 for no apparent reason. I took action and inquired for a quote from two places, and I just got a quote from State Farm: almost $1,600 / year, and that's for basic coverage! What the heck?! Was the FZ6 really blacklisted I wonder?

Can you ask them to look it up if you provide them with your VIN number?

What I meant was if this particular model of Yamaha, the FZ6, is "blacklisted", that is, moved to the expensive premiums category along with the SS bikes. My own particular FZ6 is fine, so I don't see a reason to provide VIN.

I read somewhere on this forum that if you provide the VIN number of your bike the insurance company will be able to tell you whether or not your model has been blacklisted.

I'm a TD customer (on a Security National group rate) and last year I saw the 50% increase. Was told this was due to insurance reform. 28 / M / M2 from 2010 and no tickets / Bandit 600 / Liability and Comprehensive, and I went from $1k / yr to almost $1500 / yr.

My policy end date is late Feb. Maybe you saw this increase this year instead of last, for some reason?

State Farm was actually about the same for just the bike - a little less but not enough to bother changing for. I'd be eligible for a great combined rate, but my current insurer is really cheap for my car and house so it'd be negligible.

I never thought I'd say it, but I can't wait to turn 30... :p

I think the only thing that makes it difficult for me is that I got my M1-M2 in the latter half of the riding season, and my birthday is also around that time, so its difficult to find a company that will adjust my rates once I turn 25 and have had my license for a year. Otherwise TD's rates would be comparable. I was quoted $1700 with them if they inputted my age as 25, which is in the same ballpark as other companies I've been quoted by.

I recieved my renewal from TD rates stayed the same SV650 $500 yr 2 mil liability plus fire, theft and comp. still half what I pay for the Duc with Cooperators.

Looks like I'll be staying with TD Meloche Monnex, which after the increase offer $1,025 premium for my bike. The two other places I contacted quoted north of $1,500..

Well that bike would be the exact same as a 600cc SS through state farm as they would both be listed as a 600cc regardless of style.
I am assumimg you are under 25 or not bring a car to state farm to get that quote as I pay 70/month for full coverage on a 600 SS through SF with a multi-vehicle discount.
