*taps his helmet* Hi everyone...

thanks for the advice. I'll try to set up another thread somewhere.

I doubt that the police would do a check like that on private property unless permission was granted by the owners. If they are doing a spot check at the entrance to the property, they are treading on thin ice in my view. The charter of rights applies here and they would need a good reason to do that, I'm thinking of s. 8 specifically. The HTA only permits for document checks, but they are not to be used arbitrarily. RIDE spot checks are different, they are permitted, as they are brief and are determined to be in the public interest.

I live up the road from a known MC clubhouse. During meetings every car or bike passing the area was stopped (like ride) and asked for documents, licenses ran and questions asked. I was stopped like this at least a dozen times.

Sometimes police just do these things to make their presence known. I wouldn't worry to much if they werent handing tics out.

Although mto has ticketed and towed at ertefa meeting on private property.

:lmao: Somebody delete that "running" thread ;)

Relax and realize that stereotypes are there for a reason. The same way you wouldn't stop and frisk senior citizens in an old folks home to try and stop illegal sale of firearms, but rather go after the demographic that you know, is usually involved in these crimes. Call it whatever you want but common sense applies...

Sign up for the police academy immediately.
Everyone that lives at Jane and Finch are criminals, all British ppl have bad teeth. All mods on this forum have great sense of humour.....

Pit bulls..

Gun owners

Gixxer riders

White male school teachers.

Add to that the fact that it is WIDE open to the officer's interpretation, including the terms "lawful rate of speed" and "significantly above".... It's a big can of worms on many levels. While truly dangerous vehicle operators should be penalized and I like the escalating levels of punishment, this law, as written, is a piss-poor piece of legislation and needs to be replaced.

We have some interesting terms in other legislation as well - try 'wanton and reckless disregard' in the criminal negligence definition, or 'marked departure' in dangerous driving. Some of our laws are subject to interpretation like that. Even our prosecutors are reluctant to get into the details with me when I have questions.

Charter of rights? :lmao:

G20 anyone?

The problem with this one is that the vehicle operator gets punished before he gets his day in court. Recently, I got pulled over for a lane change that could have gone either way (regular HTA charge or 172).. Fortunately I got nervous to the point that the cop thought I might have drugs or guns in the car and asked me; the conversation led to sport shooting and him letting me go without a charge.. But when about $3000 ($1000-1500 in towing/impound and the rest in legal fees) is on the line based on the cop's interpretation of one's actions, it can cause a lot of nervousness, for a good reason.

By the way, while I may have made the lane change faster than I usually would, it was completely safe, with signaling, a shoulder check and WELL within all possible margins of the vehicle's handling, traffic conditions and road conditions.

To that last line, you just need to add, "and it happened more than 6 months ago"... then you're all set for the public forum.

Welcome to the forum! Kudos for trying a new approach...if just one male rider on a sport bike, 19-30 with M2 is positively influenced by you, it was all worth it!

Statute of limitations? lol

Welcome.

Really, it's even a question that it's young guys on sport bikes being unruly? More than a couple of decades ago it was young guys on sport bikes. Now us old guys on sport bikes get the stink eye cause of youn'uns.

"Recently" can really mean anything and it would have been in the 6 month ballpark anyway.. I just don't get pulled over all that often

Lmao .. this is the reason that ALL the other cops on this board dont identify themselves.

They get hit in every direction with questions, comments and retarded statements.

Carry on ..

Soooo. Anyways.....

We know you ride a white HD with fancy lights for your job but do you have a personal bike?

Hey, do cops and firefighters really hate the other?

;)

6th gen vfr is the personal bike. I've had a couple different rides and this one is a good compromise between sport and comfort.

I was also going to add that no one cares about fires. :p

Welcome. pretty cool of you to come out and post.

I used to ride with a TPS officer. This guy cruises on empty local roads at 100+km/h. Don't even ask about highways. He told me that whenever cops would light up to pull the group over..he would stop while the rest continue. Then he'd show his badge and get let off lmao.
Though that badge trick didn't work on an OPP officer lol but he still got a reduced ticket.

So many perks to this job.. Maybe I should join the academy lol.
