Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

$100 is probably too much for this abomination

No words for this one. Asking $8k for a butchered Ducati 749

Saw this monstrosity in person on Saturday at the Hockley General Store…
Exhaust sounds good overall, if not a wee bit loud.

The rest of it, just no. No. No. No.
My heart has been hurting for the poor 749 it began life as.

The safety that is mentioned many times in the ad is about to expire. Plate location in front of the axle is very questionable for a safety. Wouldnt put a lot of faith in the rest of the inspection either.

As a guy who stripped 250lbs from a GL1200 and turned it into a drag racer I whole heartedly agree.

Ok, my first attempt here, being a (very) noob, never owned a bike, but been looking for bikes for about a month.

As a golfer would say, is this a "gimmie" ?

$3,450 __ 2016 : Honda CBR 250R : Km : 40,155

"Great starter bike. Original colour is red and white currently wrapped in black. Wrap can be easily removed."

What is "wrapped in black" (like plastic on your furniture ? lol)

I wouldnt say that is stupidly overpriced. Maybe a touch high, but in the ballpark. Wrap is a giant sticker over the bike. Can be cheaper than painting. Can also peel off the wrap with some work to get back to original finish.

To me that’s stupidly overpriced, especially at 40k!

There’s no difference between a 2010 - 2016 CBR250 besides some colour schemes.

Go for the cheapest 250-300 you can find with ABS.

You can usually remove the wrap by patiently heating it with a hair drier and peeling it off. The adhesive may remain so more time and solvent to get it off. Then you find the paint is scratched and full of putty.

Do GSXRs hold their value that well?

Nah. They don't. Saw that on Facebook. Some guy was warning others not to bother. Broken fairing stay. The guy apparently painted the frame with a brush (hiding damage?) Mismatched fasteners.

Dogs breakfast?

I've been outta the bike scene for a number of years now, but these threads are still entertaining. My last bike was during the recession ($10k cad for a CBR1000RR 08 model in 09) from the states when local dealers were selling the same bikes for $15k cad. The thread on importing was a helpful resource. Sad to have sold that bike, but i moved over seas and let them have it for a decent price. Some of the prices I see nowadays are astounding. I guess inflation hit Canada hard.

Covid and the resulting supply chain issues did a lot more than inflation. Bear in mind too, just because people are asking ridiculous prices for their used stuff doesn't necessarily mean they're getting it.
