Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

Lowballs are like 25% of asking. Any of these so called reality car shows or Pawn Stars will only offer 50% to start. If you want to sell something on Kijiji be realistic on the price and you will sell it in short order. Otherwise expect lowballs and other ridiculous offers or trades.

If that is a lowball, what was it when someone offered $1000 on my $2500 bike? When I look at prices people are asking right now (on bike in the 6k-10k range), I highly doubt the majority of the bikes are selling for more than 60-70% of asking.

The most reasonable explanation I've heard is it is depends on the actual value of the bike. If someone already has a low price, then a lowball might be 25% off. However, the Honda Transalp for $14 000 on kijiji right now... I would not be that surprised if that guy took $7k if it were in front of him. And for that matter, $7k would be more than a fair price.

Ultimately, I think it depends on Trade-in value... If the offer is above trade-in, it's a fair offer as far as I'm concerned. But, you might not see it like that, which is why I don't even bother making offers on ads that mention "lowballers". A lot of people think 5% off asking is a lowball. And those people are idiots.

There was a ktm 950 i was interested in. The guy wanted like 7500 or 8000 for it. It sat for months. now i see a dealer selling it for the same price... I highly doubt the dealer gave him more than 4500 or 5k for it.

All of my bikes are priced with an assumed 15% wiggle room. And I always have the lowest priced bikes on the market. DRZ400? $3100... Triumph Tiger $2400... 1969 Triumph TR6... 2700.. And none of those were "easy" sales!

EDIT: misread "25%" of as "25% off"

Those guys are also the "Give me $9000 or I will send it for scrap next week. No lowballers". wtf. Anything over scrap value in that case is not a lowball. Morons, do they think people really believe their bluster?

Or the ones who say, "If it doesn't sell this weekend then I'll store it and sell it for more later!"

Really? Did you say that out loud as you typed it? Because it sounds REALLY stupid.

That would make sense if it were at the beginning of winter, assuming they had the storage space. Then again, why even bother trying? I always wait until spring.

Killer deal on an ADV pioneer bike. For an extra $700 he'll throw in an ADV to cruiser conversion kit.

@bigpoppa... too bad you didn't see this first.

"It's pretty easy to assert that the Honda CX /GL family of liquid-cooled, transversely-mounted 80 degree V twin, shaft drive motorcycles were really history’s first adventure bikes."

Yeah, they ruled Paris-Dakar in the 80s.

Here's one (cheap) barely broken in.....

But if I buy that other one, it's already done. I don't need to waste my time figuring out how to spend >$50K on top of the base $11K bike.

Side question - what is the actual market value of a VRSCR these days
