Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

Re: CBR250s

LOL at the "adult owned" as opposed to most bikes on kijiji which are owned by 4 year olds???

Most sport bikes on kijiji seem to be owned by four year olds. They put on flashing blinky lights, meaningless mods and thrash the bikes, and the spelling is about junior kindergarten level.

Re: CBR250s

$6500 for that bike is about right. Unmolested 80-90s sportbikes are really rare, and people are collecting them and values are going up.

You sure about that? $6500 for a ZX7r with 41K kms.. by no means a garage queen. Sure value is going up.. but up from $1500 to $2000. (/sarcasm)

Or this one for 3.5

I doubt either of the above will sell. They are not cheap to insure which will keep away a lot of buyers.

Well, you cannot compare bikes based on a phone photo and mileage (which is rarely accurate at that age, people replace odometer clusters).

As for insurance, the market here is older riders who have both money, and low insurance costs.

Re: CBR250s

Here. Let me know if you need help counting past 3.
You were talking ninja 750, not zx10's, not trx850's. Stay on topic oh ball of knowledge.
Less money, half the mileage and utterly spotless. I know, I know. It's on ebay or one site with outrageous prices so it must be taken as gospel.

Those are actual bidding prices, what people pay. I guess three examples was not enough. I realize your point is to a be an insipid troll, but the point of my comment (which you never actually read) is that this era of sport bikes is collectible with increasing demand.

I have considerable experience with restoring bikes from the 90s and a phone pic hides a lot, as does plastic. You have to get up close assess the bike and truly well maintained, unmolested bikes from that era are rare to find, and a naive eye could cost you a couple of grand easily. Low mileage is not good on a 20 year old bike, all that sitting collects corrosion of the electrical that can be expensive to sort out. I've been through many disappointing drives to see low mileage bikes with great photos.

In this range, the ZX7RR is the real rarer bike.

Going up incrementally not astronomically

So the one you deem to be well priced could have actually been rolled over at least once or replaced making it a **** buy. Got it.

Where's the zx7rr?

I'll take notes because I've owned 2 zx7's, the bikes in question. So clearly I know nothing compared to your theory. In your considerable experience restoring 90's bikes, how many have been zx7's? The one I put the link up for is ten times of a better buy providing it's accurate information. It's far less than the example you ok'd and appears to be in flawless roadworthy condition. Is there anything else or did you wish to blow off some more steam? Carry on oh wise one

I wouldn't pay $6500 personally, but there is a difference between a zx7r and a zx7rr, one is definitely more rare and slightly more valuable.

The P series 7Rs are all on Kijiji for $2000-$4000. $6500 is ridiculous, the only way I could see it being that high was if it was a 7RR (which it isn't). So it's not rare and it's not the iconic superbike.

That bike is a very ordinary P1 ZX7R.

As I started off over priced.
Yes, if it were a K, M or N in that condition its worth the $.

But if someone would like to buy my P2, completely overhauled with 2 full fairings (track and street), and 2 complete engines (one stock, one track) a boat load of 93-95 engines and Parts I would take $6500.

I agree. ZX7s sit on kijiji for months, some for years. Anything with 30K + is difficult to sell in GTA for a good price too. These are also very heavy and feel outdated. Not much demand at all. There is a ton of ZX7s out there.
Much easier to sell an old CBR but not for those prices either. There are very few motorcycles that are actually collectible and those are usually vintage American cruisers, rare Japanese imports or old school Italian race bikes. They generally have to be all original and very low mileage.
ZX7 value is definitely NOT going up. I don't know where people get ideas from. Too much TV probably.

i agree about zx7 prices. But there is a niche zx7 following. I love the zx7 to bits myself. Yet its not for everyone.

Rommie is also right regarding the price of zx7s.

Last year i bought my 1998 zx7 with 14,500km in Mica Black just like the one on kijiji right now for 4000$ with 18,000. Pretty much identical bike to mine.

I paid $2000 for it. 1 owner. Full muzzy exhaust. Jetted. Etc. Mint bike. Only needed carbs to be cleaned. Now, i got a great deal, but it just goes to show the kind of deals that can be had on these.

The price people are asking for zx7's is ridiculous sometimes.

I love zx7's but unfortunately they don't hold their value.

The 98 zx7 thats up right now for 4k with 18k km i emailed him just to see if hed let it go for lower. He agreed to 3k off the first reply.

Go figure.

Re: CBR250s

I still have a soft spot for ZX7s (I owned a P1 and a P4) and I would love to get another just to fart around on. Getting another street bike is a low priority right now

Indeed. I got a major soft spot for the 7 myself. Its such a good looking bike in my opinion. and the handling- its on rails. so stable.

id say itll pass some major gas instead of just farting though :p, with a full pipe and good jetting, itll surprise a lot of modern bikes.

Caboose- got any pics of your old P models? Would love to see em.
