Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

He's just looking to get back:

Cost of the bike
Financing
Dealer fees
Cost of farkle
Installation fees for farkle

And probably a fee for breaking the bike in and hand picking all the addons.

He's definitely off his rocker but it seems to be the m.o. of every 300 seller on kijiji. That's why I just said screw it and bought one brand new. Pretty much only paid "taxes" on their prices and got something I didn't have to worry about having been mistreated, etc

So pay full retail for a shop to build me a custom bike. Then sell because wife/gf finds out how much it really cost and post it on kijiji at a price that I make some return on my investment that I already paid too much for. Seems legit :dontknow:

oh wait, there are two ads!

Hi, I regretfully post for sale my beautiful baby Ninja 300. The reason for selling is the need for quick cash, so please be gentle with the offers and respect the firm asking price.

The price includes:

- Ninja 300
- Front and rear stands (see pictures 2 and 3 for the bike resting on stands)
- Official Kawasaki Ninja 300 Service Manual (2 books)
- All records (see below)
- Spare key
- HJC helmet with clear visor and tinted visor (easily switchable, I can show you)
- Any of my fiancé's gear that fits you, all male items (sorry already sold all my female gear) The gear includes Alpinestars waterproof boots size 9, small joe rocket mesh jacket, medium joe rocket leather jacket, small leather gloves and medium leather gloves
- I might be missing some stuff. I will update the ad once I get the chance.

You will find it is worth your while because the engine is already broken in to Kawasaki spec, some light and tasteful mods make the bike so fresh and clean, and best of all you can forget about taxes, dealer registration fees, and dealer licensing fees.

The bike was purchased in 2013 at Kahuna Powersports. All receipts, books, and service records available and will be given to you upon sale. This includes spare key. I also have gas receipts (only use Shell V-Power) which you can have if you are an OCD freak like me.

Light and tasteful mods include:
Targa fender eliminator
Front reflector delete
Tank pad
Red rim tape
10mm spools

If you are an amateur to motorcycles and would like to know what any of these mean, don't hesitate to reach out.

So forget about the fees and taxes because she just conveniently added them to the price. I think some of these sellers don't realize used bikes still owe HST.
The "front reflector delete" is easily worth $600 above MSRP, same with the "warranty delete". Tank pads, those are like $400 right?

Lol, gas receipts. Because if it had anything other than Shell V-Power, it would be overpriced.

why do people in the gta thinks their crap is gold. A friend just picked up a newer cbr125 with 150km on the OD for $1k. Why? Not selling made an offer.

Being in the market to buy a used bike, I've seen my fair share of ads, and the majority of them are way too overpriced. I think one of the main reason is when people buy these bikes brand new, they pay a lot of extra fees on top of an already high MSRP. I was looking at the new Suzuki gw250, after taxes and fees the bike would cost $5500 with a 10% interest rate for financing.

When they try to sell it, a lot of owners feel they are entitled to these extra costs, making buying used a big hassle.

Car ads for the most part, are very close to their book value. I know the ministry doesn't use book values, but has anyone tried to use the book value to negotiate the price without sounding offensive?
