Stunt Driving.... Need Help!!!

Funny...I thought it was only a sport on the track.

Going to the ice cream joint or Tim's to pose is not a sport but riding twisty roads and trying to improve your technique by becoming smoother and more fluid with your lines / throttle sure sounds like a sport to me. I am not talking about going 200 km/h or knee dragging on the road, that's for the track. Just riding your bike at a comfortable speed and focusing more on lines and smoothness rather than watching your speedo to make sure that you don't break the law at all.

pass the popcorn ... :p

Oh...I just call that riding skill. Nothing sporty about it since lines need adjusting according to road conditions etc and those lines aren't the same as racing lines. Silly me.

And the point is that we should be able to use that riding skill without the GTAM Nanny's saying that any type of riding outside of posted speed limit is sure to lead to insurance rate increases and a bad image for motorcycle riders everywhere.

Time and place and leave no trace...

I went for a nice ride today, and granted I wasn't riding the street fighter, but my riding was subdued in no small part to the lessons learned from this thread. It was actually sublime. I'm going to treat myself from the money saved from 2 stunting and 1 careless driving charge to a new Corvette. I think they come in weapons and mean machine grade. I loves motoring.

Ticket for 49 over was about $600 i think.
No lawyer cost because i just went to court and offer the guilty at 49 over.
Impound was high. Tow was about $180. Plus $80 a day for 7 days. Called the tow company and told them i couldnt pay it and if they could help me (trying for better price) got it dropped down to $450

As for insurance hikes. Iv had insurance with intact, state farm, and td since then. All count 49 over as a minor speeding ticket. No different in rates then a ticket for 10kmh over.

The suspencion is only 7 days, it counts as a non-ratable suspension (an administrative suspension only) does not effect your insurance for bike or car.

No..what they are saying is no matter how highly skilled you think are, if you're riding like a loon...at some point you might have a bad day. Perfectly fine advice as far as I'm concerned. Oh...and I find low speed manoeuvers on the street to take more skill to be honest.

Physics always wins in the end.

You must be fun at parties lol. Argue all you want but stop wishing ill on others.

To everyone saying 190 is a crazy speed. If you got on the back of my or dricked's race bike you will think that we are crazy for riding at those speeds, we would in the other hand be cruising at a very safe speed for us. Just because something seems impossible to you does not mean that other can not handle it, this is due to practice and training.

just some perspective

Thanks for the 1st hand info. Looks like it was 600 ticket + 180 tow + 80*7 impound (without discount) = $1,340. Pricey for a 49 over. Good to hear that 172 didn't stick.

I can't pass judgements on the wreckless speeds as I have done them myself.
I'll go as far as saying that I've had more close calls doing 100-120 on the highway than I have keeping a 140-150 pace (free flowing traffic). Sounds stupid, but I generally felt "safer" from being hit by someone else when I was consistently passing them. I.e. doesn't matter what's in my rear view.

... or sport touring wannabes with knee sliding avatars.

First, How would one be a "sport touring wannabe" anyway? I often tour the countryside on a sport touring motorcycle; how does that make me a "wannabe"?

Second, do you think it's possible for a sufficiently skilled rider to track-day a sport tourer and slide a knee puck? A 'yes' or 'no' will suffice.

Hey PP just passed his m2. So his words are gospel now.

Because when backed into a corner, often a result of finding themselves loosing a debate, some here take the childish way out and resort to name calling and personal insults. The same reason a few of us more responsible and older types around here (who don't know everything anymore and are no longer invincible) have been called various other names as well.

Perhaps you'd like to go read the rest of my posts on my riding years vs drawing conclusions based on 1 thread title, much less its content. I was a street bike rider probably before you were even born, and was riding dirt bikes and such off-road for probably a decade or more before that.

Can't let pov stand alone, needs personal validation. Check

Doesn't sound stupid at all - I get it and fully agree. You can use the sporty responsiveness and handling of a bike to drive defensively and be safer. Like using speed to accelerate to the open spaces.

We all know transport trucks love to drive in the middle lane at 100km/h. Some poor souls on here would plod along right beside that truck because they won't ever ride over the posted speed limit. Not me - and I'm not going to take my time about it either! But I like to think I'm a bad boy!

You're doing it wrong. Loud pipes is all you need then you can ride however you please.
