Stolen Motorcycle.PLEASE HELP

Sorry for your loss OP, I can relate. I left my bike outside a hotel in Alabama, and the next day, all I had left was the key. I also did not have theft that day, it sucked. Just keep an eye on kijiji and such, with a broader search than just the GTA. Don't hold your breath though. Just apply for financing and get a new one.

You're making an assumption...Some one who stole it would have to know how to ride...had some idea of what he was doing seing as how he didn't crash it and make the news.

Just saying the cops deals with alot of dumb ****, a stolen bike due to something as dumb as leaving the key in it and taking off for a few hours will not be a high priority, maybe you get lucky and some one makes an anonymous tip. All they'll do is make a report and hope it turns up. You should ask if they have cameras pointing at the area, thats your only hope.

best of luck bro, again not trying to put ya down.

No more of an assumption than this

Bikes probably in peices on ebay and kiji as we speak.

sorry for ur loss OP, hope karma will catch up to the jerk who stole ur bike

Hence the probably at the beginning of that statement.

How many people you know can hop on an unfamiliar 600cc ss and just go on a joy ride with no motorcycling experience? Its not some random crackhead saw the key and bolted to the nearest pawn shop, ill put money on that.

I'm not going to arugue semantics with you. My point is that telling someone to omit potential evidence (no matter how small) for fear that a cop might laugh at you is bad advice.

I would bet the person who has this bike is a member of GTAM and has read this thread also.

So sorry to hear about this....i was a little kid and i used to ride a bicycle to school....my folks bought it for me..I parked it at school and I come back out and it's gone! It took me a while to realize it was stolen...

I did not have to save up for it, My folks got me another one the very next day...yet it hurt...

Sad!

i don't know how many times i've almost left the key in the seat unlock on the SV. Kinda makes me want to replace it with an electronic popper of some sort that only works when the ignition is on.

Since I always get to work at the last minute, I often turn off the bike, remove my helment, hang it on the mirror and forget to remove key. Fortunately for me I park in front of the security guard in an enclosed parking lot.

It seems like rushing is one of the root causes of leaving my key in my bike.

May be you will not pay directly but if couple of stolen or vandalized or whatever bikes are reported from the same region, eventually the insurance for that area will go up. Just try to put yourself in place of insurance policy makers. Would you do a not profitable business? Exactly, so this is why I prefer to pay as little as I legally can and never ask for money from them. If you not paying by increase in you insurance rates it only means we all are paying by increase of basic rate. The insurance system over lived its initial purposes and became a client swallowing shark. I leaved in Connecticut for some time. There you can choose for how much you want to insure your bike and/or car. The minimal some is $25K, which I did and was paying $24.30/ month as a new rider. The law there says that driving is a privilege and if you caused a bigger damage than you insured for you have to pay from your own pocket. It case you fail, government pays, but you lose or license for live. This system is working for them just fine and here it looks like government and insurance is the same machine designed to get as much money from you as possible without you taking an ax in your hand and go against them. How is it that you have to pay for $1 million liability when average accident in Toronto cost $40,000?

The legal minimum in Ontario is $200,000. If you want to roll the dice with you're entire financial future knock yourself out. I'm going to ride with my $2M policy and not have to worry about being ruined if I eff up once and hurt someone.
