Is anyone tracking this years totals? The cop told me that he see's the thefts occur on Mondays and Fridays (80%), just wondering if this is true or not.

Bike found!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:toothy4:
Whoever took it left it a few streets over from where it was taken, and the guy whose house it got parked in front of called in "the suspicious bike" to the police.

The street it was left on was located in-between two motorcycle mechanic shops, so maybe the thiefs hoped they could make a quick sale and when that did not come through, they abandoned the whole idea!

******, I consider myself damn lucky!!!!!!!!

Good luck to everyone else on here whose bike got taken!

Good to hear. Actually it sounds more like a joy ride than a professional theft which is why it's always a good idea to check the immediate area after a theft, especially of a not particularly theft prone model.

I have two friends who both live in the same building who had their Hyosung 250s stolen and stripped and left 2 blocks from their homes. Found several days or weeks later, I can't recall how long the gap was.

Parts of one Hyo were found bolted onto the other, for some strange reason, and the one Hyo was stripped bare.

Hyo250s aren't exactly coveted or performance machines, consider yourself lucky.

So i just thought I'd share. My motorcycle was stolen on June 13, 2013. This is the second R1 that was stolen from me so I knew already that I'm never gonna see her again. Turns out the guy was in an accident with my bike a few days ago and now he and his passenger are in the hospital. Karma? I don't know for sure if the guy riding it was the one that stole it but that really sucks for the passenger.

As for the bike, i hope it's a write-off cuz i don't want a stolen and crashed bike.

On another note: I was away on vacation last week in the Dominican and as i was walking through the resort late at night, I hear a bike start up. Having owned a couple of R1s the last 8 years i know exactly what it sounds like. It was dark and I couldn't see a thing so i followed the sound. Low and behold, its an R1 same gen, same color and a few similar mods as mine. So i spoke to the guy riding it and thankfully i speak enough Spanish to have a convo with him and he tells me that most of their high-er end vehicles (cars and motorcycles) are shipped over from North America and most of them are stolen. Anyhow, this isn't my bike but i was so curious cuz the accident mentioned above did not happen yet. There were a couple of R1s parked there and so I took a pic of the VINs. According to the NICB, one of them is listed as stolen and the other a total loss. hmmm...

jyarn20e87a003308 Yamaha R1 2007, this one is listed as stolen
jyarn23e99a004479 Yamaha R1 2009, this one is listed as total loss

Both of these bikes had mods that i don't think Dominicans would normally get but who am I to judge?!?!

My uncle is in the hospital bed right beside him right now (in Sunnybrook). I was talking to his Mom who was trying to convince me not to ride a motorcycle anymore, lol.

The 32 year old's name is Mathew Bartoulos (sp?).

Can we look up VINs too?

Things have gotten so bad with stolen motorcycles in Guatemala they just introduced a new program where riders have to clearly show their license number on their helmet and on their riding vests. There were numerous checkpoints around Guatemala City yesterday where officials were stopping motorcycles and fining them for not complying although I suspect there were more payoffs than fines from those riding stolen bikes. If your motorcycle happens to find its way down to a Central American country don't expect the officials to do anything about it...money is king down there!

I clicked on this link and it's an ad gateway that has nothing I can find about stolen motorcycles.

I fear this may happen to CBR125R owners just because they can be lifted up by one person and loaded into relatively any mid sized vehicle. D:

It can happen to anyone.. There have been scooters, helmets and gloves that were stolen in the past. The deterrent that the cbr125 has is the fact that its a cheap bike and wont really be worth the trouble/space to steal over another bike.

Stolen red and white with a black tank 2005 Yamaha R6, taken in the AM of Oct 31 2013 from Hamilton mountain near Upper Wellington.
Has 2 well used frame sliders as well as scratches on the right fairing and crankcase.

Forgot to reply...ooops...And, thanks for asking!

Bike is ok, and when I found it, I rode around the city, all was good. And, a few dats later, the speedometer stopped working. Now she is in storage, all nice and warm, and will be getting a full check-up!

wow! is your bike damaged at all?
