Staying in shape during corona

Have lots of rope. I wonder how much weight a rope can take.
More than you can lift as long as it's not damaged.

EDIT:
Some caveats. Even 5 mil static rope has a tensile strength of ~5000 lbs. Typical paracord has a tensile strength of 550 lbs. Safe working load is up to you, but without stress risers (eg. proper knots etc) I would be ok with paracord up to 200 lbs. It's not dropping on you if it falls.

Was looking for some dip station solutions for the home gym and came across this...

Anyone try this type of thing? I can hang it off the door pull-up bar. No space for a proper cable station unfortunately.

Are you planning to continue with the homegym after this is over?

I was going to say get an industrial pulley, but cost and size will probably be excessive. Look at climbing pulleys. They may suck less than home depot specials.

Go on amazon, or find an offroad shop, and buy a snatchblock.

...it sounds dirty but it's not. Hahaha

Yes. I stopped going to the gym a while back. With the equipment I have right now, I can basically do all the exercises I want except some work with cable equipment (I can't really do seated rows, pull downs, etc.) And I'm not sure how to replace those with dumbbells and barbell.

Two snatchblocks, two chin up bars, a skateboard and a stack of weights and you have a rowing machine.

something like this would literally finish up my home gym.

Depending on the footprint size of course.

Seated rows.. replace with bent over rows.. or t-bar rows... one arm DB rows with a bench.

I do the dumbbell rows with chest on the bench right now. Good call on the t-bar rows, never thought of that. Just need a towel or something to keep them from damaging the trim in a corner.

I would suggest that if they think you'll stick with it.. you consider getting a full cage with cable attachment.
fitness depot, treadmill factor and fitness avenue have some that are close to the price of the first link... and they are about the same foot print as the cross fit stand you have now.

On my drive out to grab some soft close cabinet hinges I drove by at least three fitness centers. God i'm glad I'm not paying the leases on the building or all that equipment sitting idle.

see that? nailed three threads , one post! I'm killing it in here

Well the good thing is that the fees are being racked up as I keep reading gyms aren't stopping payments. So basically the gym is SAVING money because they're not having to pay anyone to sit there and clean it, use electricity, or fix anything for the time being.

This is why the prices have gone bonkers online...I've seen enough posts online by guys crying they can't keep up with their gains and COVID-19 lockdown is ********...they need their haircut man, and the muscles need to be maintained! I know I've gained weight being in the house.

I was never really a gym guy, but have/had a very active lifestyle. The only thing the work slow down has given me is more time to cycle, walk the dog, do physical house fixin. Its been good for me personally.

the alcohol intake may need a reset, but I love jumping on the bicycle for a mental reset at lunch time

So much alcohol...at least with working in BC the dry camp curbed it nicely...now I'm going rotund.

It looks a lot better, and sturdier, in your pics than it does on the site!
Thanks. It's actually very sturdy. The metal is thick that it doesn't wobble at all. My friend has the Northern Lights with very thin metal pieces and it started twisting within a few weeks. Mine's been going for years and no sign of twist / wear on any of the components.

There was a cross bar that I didn't end up buying at the time, but if I can find it now I can get it to beef it up even a bit more for very little cost.

I didn't suggest it before.. but now that I've seen your pic...
Instead of pulldowns... I'd try putting the bar up higher on the stand.. and doing pull ups off it... figure something out from a kneeled or seated position.

Thanks. There is a Fitness Depot I just went to near me that had the dip attachment (they confirmed it's sturdy enough) and they had a landmine that I could use with the weights. They're basically cleaned out from all their weights and they told me they got 'raided' soon as the lockdown happened. Won't restock weights until mid-Jun to early-July at the earliest.

They didn't have the crossbeam I wanted which is a pull up bar for my piece, but they'll get it in a few weeks and let me know when they have it.

Landmines? Damn, you people take fitness seriously. Good motivation not to give up and drop the weight.
