Speeding Ticket (10 over)

maybe you didnt understand what i wrote, i'll try to explain it better

the ticket that he was given has no points attached to it. so, in essance, all it is ,
is a ticket for you to pay money.

money which is revenue for the city or township you live in.

now that you were given this ticket, your insurance company will find out about it, and more than likely raise your rates.
so what I suggested, was that their be a 4th Option available, where they just rip up your ticket , since no-one really cares about it, except insurance, and you pay their fine anyways.

So your saying they should add a 4th option for so rich dumb drivers can do whatever they want with really no reprocusions other then a slap on the wrist fine?

pretty much, yeah..

for stupid tickets .. anything that has no points attached to it.

AND seatbelt tickets. lol

no, but for example, why should my insurance rates go up if i've had 1 ticket in 8 years? that's just unfair. i spoke to my insurance broker and he said insurance companies are just dying to find excuses to raise rates.

anyways i see option 2 now- early resolution- i'll go for that first. any tips? should i explain that the area used to be 80, there was only one sign stating 60km/h. i rarely drive that route?

Well you have now proven to your insurance company that you don't follow the rules when you drive, therefore you are a higher risk driver.

I see you haven't really heeded any advice here, so have fun paying the fine and possibly higher insurance.

Going to Early Resolution will also pretty much destroy your chances of an 11b. If you go request disclosure beforehand and have it ready then and there.

These two things are screwing me over right now in my case (going 2 years+ now)

No, it won't. You're entitled to your time in court. What it might do though, is force disclosure to be provided in a timely fashion, thereby removing the opportunity for dismissal due to lack of disclosure.

i was planning to fight it from day 1. i can either just pay the fine and face higher insurance automatically, or i can try to fight it and get it thrown out.

hmmm which sounds like the better option?

So, OP, there are a couple of ways to approach this one:

A.) You can request a trial, and ask for disclosure, and wait for the court date
Or
B.) Request early resolution, they may drop the ticket right there; if they do not drop it, then go option A above

Why would they drop it at early resolution? It may happen, why not?
Because it would be more expensive to go to court with this ticket than the $40 fine the city would get if convicted. Do you have a perfect record? Go and ask nicely at early resolution and that may just do the trick.

went with option B

I sincerely doubt you are going to get it thrown out.

I would normally recommend going to see the prosecutor and plea bargaining based on your good record etc - you may get lucky having it reduced.
Since this ticket is very minor to begin with, it is hardly worth the time and hassle.

You did the crime. Pay the fine and move on.

Lol, so he gets what reduced, the small fine? And then in a year or two he gets another one, small fine, and his insurance goes up BIG TIME.

Fight them all.

Not many people would have an issue with just paying the fines, it's the insurance that becomes the issue.

i recommend you ignore this babble
he is the type of guy that i would like to see get hit with a stunting charge, and accept his own " you did the crime, pay the fine " crap

Obviously reading and/or comprehension isn't your strongest point.
What part of "Since this ticket is very minor to begin with, it is hardly worth the time and hassle." do you not seem to understand?

It would appear that you have not read the sticky post regarding assumptions to make, before posting in this forum. Please do before you post again.

Whats wrong with enforcing rules?

It would make sense to increase rates for something like failing to use your seat belt because you at a higher risk of suffering more serious injuries in an accident (which would obviously cost them more) vs someone who doesn't in most cases. Whats so hard about wearing your seat belt anyways?

it should be my choice to wear it or not.. I feel the same way about helmets as well.
i fully understand that the driver should be responsible for passengers under the age of 18, but once you reach that age, it should be a personal choice.
