Speed Kills Your Pocket Book

Just got my reply too from the Minster of Transportation Correspondence (Web Account):

"Thank you for your e-mail. We have recorded your support for an increased speed limit on 400 series highways and will take it into consideration when speed limits are next reviewed."

Got it too.. The person who wrote it must work in HR ;)

damn it!
I have to up my email spam to them asking them to lower it.
It's a race. Damn you guys and girls.

I got the same response as well

Another news report about the video

I got the same response as the rest of you. I'm replying to ask when the next planned evaluation of the speed limits is, lol.

And who's gonna be doing it.. Politicians or civvies specializing in transportation  My brother is working on his PhD in that and when he visited us in Canada, he was saying "easy 130 would make for a good band aid solution for the congestion you guys are getting". Couldn't believe the speed limits on the Gardiner and DVP either.

Yeah, I'm expecting no response. x_x

When I was driving in Ireland last year, it was hilarious - the speed limits were REASONABLE. I felt like the number on the signs was about what I should be going, and people weren't going higher than them.

Also, Irish backroads are awesome.

When I was driving on some country roads in Serbia, I kinda lost myself if the twisties, looked at the speed limit sign, it was showing 60, was scared excrementless (the cops down there would have skinned my wallet with the Canadian driver's licence) until I looked at the speedo and saw I was doing 60 on the dot lol

In Chile, major highways are typically set at 120, they won't bug you for doing 130ish, which is about as fast as you wanna go if you pay for your own gas, especially since your typical sedan like Accord or Camry can't do more than 100-110 in certain parts with a gasoline-powered 4banger. The only places where they drop the limit to 100 is where there is rampless access to the highway, mostly fruit stands and the occasional restaurant, in urban areas and I found myself slowing down naturally as it was the right speed for the situation.

So you're telling me that you were able to use your own common sense to determine a safe speed of travel.

Nonsense. I don't believe it.

The Liberal mindset is that humans are unable to decide for themselves so every action has to be regulated by strict legal constraints. Letting responsible adults act responsibly on their own would blow their minds

^^ ummm there's over 1.1 million in just Calgary. There's congestion just not 3 million retards that don't know how to drive like on the 401.

I'd take 1.1 million poor driver over 3 million poor drivers. Even driving like dorks there's only 1/3 the congestion!

Thank you for your e-mail. We have recorded your support for an increased speed limit on 400 series highways and will take it into consideration when speed limits are next reviewed.

I suggest that you include this line in your email.
This issue is a major voting decision for me, my family, and my friends come election time.

Can you please, please, please, do a little research, then watch the video again, and you'll see what a load of ... propaganda it is.

What would you specifically like us to research? and what is the propaganda about? are they selling a product, are they benefiting in any way from this video?

Since my thread had some specific points backed with facts and data, if you are going to come in here and dismiss it, at least ensure to back your claim with some kind of factual information..no?

I am open minded but one sentence empty statements reminds me of Fox news

uhm well you see the thing is in a weird observation
America=AlQaeda
They both start and end with an A, as well have 7 letters.
doh!

btw- I am revving up my media machine to send numerous emails to lower the speed limit by 20 km/h.
I will use some of the same info as the increase the limit side uses.
Cars today are much safer than they have ever been therefore people are less likely to suffer major injuries from a 80 km/h crash vs. 100 km/h. By going slower we increase the reaction times thus allowing a greater possibility of avoiding a crash. We do want to avoid accidents, right?

We can reduce road carnage and health costs associated with car crashes.
Insurance companies will also benefit with reduced property damage and personal injuries therefore increasing their profits.

I win- Once the insurance companies run the numbers and realize it's in their benefit the law will be changed to 80.
Oh, and once I point out to the local Police Chiefs the revenue they lose from speeders then it's just the final nail.
Then I will drive a spike through your "coffin" by marketing to the seniors to back Prop80 because they will not be rushed or forced to speed. It makes the highway safer for them to keep driving longer. It will give them increased reaction time and set the right lane to 50-60.

I will start Prop80

80 saves..............children
100 kills

We interrupt this thread to bring you a Fox News Bulletin:

People should research choices, before putting their John Henry on them.

What I'm doing is asking people to take a look at what's presented and do a little research before they jump on the bandwagon. Nothing wrong with that, is there?

I might sign a petition to raise speed limits depending on where, how and when, but I will still do my own research, and think the process through, before committing, thank you very much.

As far as what to look at, try looking at which theories are presented as facts, or where a partial fact is presented as a whole one. I don't think I can say any more without feeling that I am insulting you.

Once again, I'm just asking people to think things through before coming to a decision.

flawed, ppl don't do that, they like to have it done for them

thats correct.. ,most people do that speed, so the people driving under that are usually the problem.

its all about $$$$$$$$$$$ for speeding. thats why the gov't will never change it..

they dont give a **** about your safety. if they did, they'd patrol the roads giving tickets for other things, like brake lights, no signals, swerving...etc..

, instead of sitting hidden in a speed trap.

Poor truckers....they all drive at 105-110km/h...At least east of hgw 416 you can drive at 110 on the right lane without any problem, there is next to no trafic.

You first said that it was propaganda, meaning you believe the facts are wrong, then when i asked for you to provide some facts, you back pedaled a bit saying "but I will still do my own research, and think the process through, before committing"

I am ok if you say research before committing to something, that is a reasonable statement, but what you really said first was "and you'll see what a load of ... propaganda it is" to which you provided no facts.

So no worries about insulting me, go ahead and state why you know it is propaganda? and please back your statements with some kind of factual information.

Sorry, but you can't afford my rate.

Here's a start for you though, since you couldn't even be bothered to look up the definition of the word:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda

Are you truly and honestly going to commit to saying that the clip isn't one-sided?

Where several explanations are possible, follow-up is given to the one most supporting the producer's point of view, no matter how unreasonable.

Even the title assumes that everyone who speeds carries a purse, they are all caught, and the handbag is somehow assassinated by the process.

Seems pretty biased to me. Since I don't carry a purse am I somehow off the hook?

I suppose the worst case scenario, might be that the people signing up get their addresses sold to one of those spam sites.

I'm happy with 100. I just cruise along at the limit on the cruise lane unless passing (in a car). Without reading any proof or studies I feel that dumb drivers will do dumber things with increased limit.
