Sometimes people use my driveway to access a field by my house....

And it really pisses me off. I am not sure if I am being overly pissy about it or not. I worry about the safety of my pets and kids as they play in my field and the adjoining field which is owned privately but by a company that just keeps it trimmed and doesn't care who is on it. There has been trucks and jeeps on occasion both at night and in the day which will drive up my driveway and then drive around in the field and then exit using my driveway.
A friend of mine suggested having a paintball gun handy and shooting any such vehicles but I am not sure that is the best course of action and would likely be just more for sport.
My little daughter came in the house the other day all scraped up and when I asked where she got the scrapes she said her and her brothers were crawling through the field on their bellies because they were on a spy mission. What if a truck decided to drive through then? The kids would not have been seen laying in the high grass.
Not sure what to do...thoughts?

1. You're an attention whore...jeezus you post a lot!!

2. There is nothing you can do about your kids playing in the field and someone running them over as it is not your property.

3. Put up some sort of a barrier between your driveway and the field. Anything that will stop cars/suv's to be able to cross.

3. it is a really big area, perhaps some booby traps here and there....
 
Put up a fence or a barrier to prevent them from using your driveway. If they find other ways to get into a property that's not yours and your kids get run over, then it's on you. Gotta keep'em in check.
 
Next time try this it may work...take off all your clothes and run after them to get off your property...:tongue9:
 
I though everyone was friends out in the country. Warning signs, fences, boobie traps. Can't you just talk to them and say hey, sometimes my kids play in that field so when you drive up please stop by to check out where they are before hitting the field.

Yes, I said boobie.

This would get the point across that the driveway is private access only.

Maybe a dumb question now: do you know for a fact that the driveway belongs to you, and only you?

Never lived in the country eh?? :-) Grudges and feuds run through generations sometimes.. There's a reason why people move away or learn to mind their own business.. :-)
 
this is a silly thread...I was just mad because it happened just now and I was outside and they looked at me like they really don't care. It is all different people, not any one from my street. I will try a sign. I would rather not fence it because of inconvenience and cost. But what other options are there really. Maybe video surveillance!
I should have posted about chewing gum instead or why do people stay in sexless marriages....that would have kept me away from having to assemble the stupid gazebo I bought for way longer.

Even if the driveway does only belong to you if it's the only acess to that feild it's owner has right to an easment to gain acess to his/her property. You cannot landlock a parcel of property in this province, or prevent someone from gaining acess to a plot they own, so puttting up any kind of barrier would be unlawful.

That said, it doesn't sound like the people using it are the owners, so it's a moot point.
 
Did you check google to see if any off-road or similar message boards reference your area as a place to go? That it's all sorts of different people - I'd wonder how it's getting 'advertised'.
 
I don't think you are being pissy one bit. Either do what wobblycat suggested (most affordable..maybe add Shooting Range KEEP OUT to it) or put up enough of a fence that it at least stops the vehicular traffic.

That type of crap makes me livid. Furthermore, it makes you more vulnerable to a b and e etc because neighbours don't see a stakeout vehicle to report if it was there.
 
boobie traps will not work since kids will more than likely to get caught by them... so signs and fences would be ideal
