SOAR & RACE make big announcement at motorcycle supershow !?

My bike is an 05
2004-2006 r1 same bike, 07-08 newer design , 09-14 cross plane
So my bike regardless of changes next year is lost era compliant :)

04 and 05 same, 06 changed the head and had a HP bump so 04 and 05 are like type and design 06 will be out because of significant change

06 different swingarm, more motor slightly different frame.

Lost HW struggled at SOAR this year, only two regular HW bikes in that class the rest were LE light bikes and some pot pourri added to the mix.

The guys that have bought the 03+R6's should still have a very competitive bike against even against 05-06 600rr's and 636's in lost era light.

I understand Kellen's view, a 12 month as opposed to a 6 month window would be nice to have. Not sure what can be done between now and round 1.

A lot of open sprint/superbike are 600s too.

And yeah, a possible change this big needs a year to prepare, not 4 or 5 months

Any chances Ken 1000's be allowed to run old boys?? 1000 worked well in Bridgestone cup and open sprint. In my case they're all faster than me now.lol.

OBC is also under development as RACE has 40 plus w/10yr experience. The guys that do it like it that way but my position is its detrimental to the class as to be honest few people race that long and the class is too punative. Many riders do it so there isnt as much stress etc. So RACE is talking to the refs and seeing what if anything we can do to blend their masters into our OBC as for allowing litre bikes in thats not really on the radar. I am afraid in order to please a few we would annoy far more by doing that. Besides thought you were selling the big dog?

You may be right, but I would have just built an 05 R6 or 05 ZX6R had I known before four months before the season starts.

We didnt have a year. RACE was not going to be there at all without this happening in 2015. Mr Gautier told me that 2014 almost didnt happen. Again Kellen lets not get all upset here until its decided 100% my feeling is it will remain as is. I am trying to be as open as I can to allow as much info out as I can. I wasnt available to do this until Dec and Chris wasnt available in Dec. It was a SOAR decision to help RACE as much as we can for the greater good of all. It would have been very easy to bury them completely but I dont think anyone wanted that. Me included. I understand your concern we are trying to do this as painlessly as possible but the nature of this sport is such that sometimes changes and decisions are made that effect people in a negative way. Ask the guys trying to sell XR Harleys. Hell I was stuck with a Ducati for years because of changes made in AMA .Look back to SV cup, and RZ cup before that Once again I suspect that the answer will likely be twelve years lets wait and see before we panic.

The 08 is for sale, but a 2012 has taken its place. Looking for a 600 but can't do until the 08 is gone. All good with old boys restrictions. Just thought since I'm 40 now might try another class.

When will we know Ken

Chris is suppose to get the numbers too me this week. Then it will be decided. There are a few things that needed further input so hopefully we get all of it by weeks end. I will be able to get final draft done and posted sometime next week.

Seems like the easiest solution would be to keep SOAR at a 12 year cut off.

In 2015 RACE can keep the 10 year cut off, in 2016 use an 11 year cut off then in 2017 use a 12 year cut off then both series are in line and no racer will get screwed over.

Both rulebooks will be exactly the same. Its the only way a runoff can work otherwise at final the 12yo bikes are running against the 10yo anyway. When you download either rulebook from either site they will be identical with exception to header and operational stuff (penalties, registrations, etc) Trust me RACEs rules are the ones having the major changes, classes, tires, names, modifications, HP limits etc etc etc. We used our rules as the patform and made some mods. RACEs rules were very out of date and would have required a complete rebuild from scratch meaning weeks and possible months further. Time we just dont have.

Ok, whatever. I have no dog in this fight...

Some riders will be pretty disappointed with a short notice rule change.

You cannot please everyone. It's impossible. I'm OK with whatever is done as long as I have a place (preferably multiple places) to ride.

As Ken has been saying, it's more likely that Lost Era will stay the way SOAR had it (12 years). It really only affects whoever was running a 2004 model year bike in Sportsman at RACE in 2015. While it would theoretically affect someone who was planning to run a 2005 model bike at RACE in 2015, I somehow doubt that anyone was building a bike to run specifically in that class this coming year. They wouldn't have been able to run it this past year. I suspect that it will make no difference to RACE to change their cutoff to 12 years, but it's up to Chris.

06 had longer swinger I forgot, the slipper clutch and hp bump was on the LE model only I believe. regardless, it's legal next year lol
Sorry, you must be at least this tall to ride Lost Era

In 2014, the RACE Masters Open Class top 3 in the Championship were Doc Walker, Vanessa Gareau-Dominguez and Dave Buckland. Dave has not been racing for 10 years and Vanessa is not even close to 40 yet. So clearly they don't follow their own rulebook for the class.

So someone who started racing at 20 could race Masters class at the age of 30 then???

Something like that. I forget exactly. You can start before 40 under certain circumstances.

Cool! Mitch Card will be crushing the Masters class at 26 then...
