Snowboarding season ALMOST here lol

Nice riding boys! :-) I'm flying out to Snowbird on Thursday..they've gotten 30" of snow in the last 3 days and another 12" tonight apparently. I'm stoked!

Good stuff, I am planning a trip to Lake Placid soon. Buddy if mine that's in the vids with me (green helmet) always goes on meets, he just came back from Cali. I'm gonna make some more edits soon. Blue sucks this year but what can you do you can't beat the value for the 5x7 pass.

True the 5x7 is a good deal, except the conditions have been s#+**y.
Try again later this week after the friggin rain, yuck.

I was just at the Play It Again in North York and all of their New Snowboards, Bindings and Boots are 50% off the regular price. Burton, Flow, Drake, K2
Prices seemed like they were consistant with the suggested retails which makes for some wicked deals. Seems like the lack of snow this year in Toronto is making some great deals pop up earlier than normal.

Found this link too.....

Had some fun at Glen Eden after work last night. Can't believe how warm it was.

We also went skiing on Monday. The tracks from the groomers were still on the snow. The was one lonely school bus entering the parking lot at about 11:30 and about 30 cars. My kid didn't want to go back on Tuesday, because that would have been too much of a good thing. Lessons are set for Saturday.

Just got back from Utah..4 tram rides in one morning at Snowbird..3000' vertical times 4..man..what a workout. Even they have poor snow (for them) though.. Whistler on the other hand... :-)

Keep talking about Whistler. I will be there in two weeks :)

Somewhat offtopic, but does anyone know how picky Air Canada is with number of skis I have in a bag? Can I take three sets and a snowboard?

I'm off to Big White in a few weeks with AC so this is what their website states: Skis (including poles):
  • One or more sets of skis (snow or water) carried together in the same container count as one piece of checked baggage.
  • Skis and poles must be packed in a rigid and/or hard shell case specifically designed for shipping. If otherwise packaged, the items will be accepted only with a signed limited release form.
  • If carried separately, a set of ski poles will count as one piece of checked baggage.
  • No oversize charge applies to skis. However, any overweight charges will apply
  • See ski boot bag information below.
Ski or snowboard boot bag:
  • One boot bag is permitted per passenger and will not count as a piece of checked baggage if:
    • it is carried along with skis or snowboard and
    • it contains only boots.
  • A boot bag will count as a separate piece of checked baggage if:
    • it contains - or is designed to contain - other items, or
    • it is not carried along with a snowboard or set of skis.
EDIT: I think you can can have some gear in a a bona-fide boot bag. AC is trying to prevent someone calling a hockey bag a boot bag and stuffing it with more gear.

I've flown AC a few times with skiis. I have a soft bag and I usually pack my skiis, poles and a bunch of fleece stuff and thermal underwear around the gear. Technically, if you read their page, this is not allowed. However, I've never had problems doing this. It protects the skiis and comes in under weight generally. I don't think you can get away with carrying 4 pairs of skiis or whatever in one bag. 2 pairs maybe. I pack my boots in my regular luggage in the space saved by putting all my fleece and stuff in my ski bag. By boot bag, they mean a boot bag. Just like funrider says, it's not intended to allow you to pack a hockey bag full of stuff with a pair of boots.

I heard from a few people now, that hard bags are recommended. I never looked at my skis as fragile things. I usually put them in soft bags. Do they really bang them around that badly?

Nah..I pad them with my fleece jackets and stuff..I've never had an issue. Probably covering their *** in the event something gets damaged.

With the newer shorter skiis it's less of an issue. I was told that my old 207's used to have to be put in the container diagonally. There were stories of skiis being put on separate flights, because of the timing/way that the baggage was loaded.

It rained at Whistler almost every other day that I was there. It was 0 at the top and a few degrees warmer down below. We had to ski the top of the mountain, the bottom was slush. It was weird to ski through a cloud and lose your visibility.

I skied in Austria..complete cloud-fest..couldn't see 20'..people still blasting down the hill..I kept to the side and watched the nonsense..that week some woman was killed by some politician who ran into her at mach 9...scary stuff..

Headed to BC this weekend (Kicking Horse, Big White, Revelstoke).

Half of us are going via WestJet, the other with Air Canada.

On the West Jet flight, we're planning to put two boards + bindings + boots into one padded snowboard bag, and carry-ons for our clothing and helmets. Does anyone know if this will be considered "excessive"? The weight of it isn't much, and he has traveled with this bag before on a flight to AB via WestJet.

The airline says one set only.
