Hmmmm.... that's a stretch. I would choose a race-driven/proven motorcycle over my own any day. Not that there is anything wrong with mine, but more tuning and R&D was put into the other than than mine.

It's great mechanical experience if you're doing it all yourself, poor financial planning.

if i could go back...as much fun as it was building this bike for race, id have sold it and bought one done.
it was a huge waste of money. :)

This is a common feeling it seems, and I share it also. Everybody seems to learn from their own mistakes instead of listening to everyone who has already made the mistake. For me, in the end, it really wasn't even that much fun to build my track bike. haha

I love building my bike, sourcing out parts for cheap, and picking colours, etc. But that may be just the designer in me. Half the fun is building it.

I don't know that bike, but i know it has been for sale for sometime, I remember seeing it for sale in the summer for the same price.

So you might be able to get a good deal on it

Anybody know this bike?

TRACK BIKE NINJA 636 on Kijiji http://london.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAd?AdId=408864553

Trying to follow advice here and just buy track prepped instead of dreaming of a bike that works both on and off the street.

if his name is Greg , I think I met him at tmp in the summer and 3rd gear was slipping , if its the same person. I'd buy it for 3500 needing tranny work.

Thanks guys.
If you are willing to go to buffalo or somewhere close by in the states for one, you will get a much better deal

Might be a good time for a sticky on "Beginner's Guide to Buying your First Track Bike"? There's lots of info in this forum and others, but they often get side tracked with other topics (tires, warmers, etc.) Quick search and I couldn't find a specific thread on this specifically. Anyone?

Yeah, I've looked on cherry picker.
Couple of really nice bikes on it.

A "Beginner guide to track" stickie would be awesome.

There is so much great info within random posts its tough to find most of the time.

Sorry yes there is but what I meant to say was that there is so much good information lost in random threads.
Threads that go off topic(like this right now, lol) that have great links and advise etc.

Those are good but assume you already have a bike. Here's a related article along the lines I was thinking. It's a bit light, and could use more content, but a good reference point, I think: http://www.doctordanger.com/motorbikeroad/buy_roadbike.htm

And a less related but FAR more comprehensive article (11 parts!) mostly related to racing but that could be of interest to people interested in the entire process of getting a race license, prepping a bike, protective gear, etc. I think a lot of the advice could be transferable to track day riders. Takes until Part 5 to get to race bike mods, but still a good read to see what some people do, or what the previous owner may have gone through (scroll to the bottom of the page for links to the other sections)
