Shooting in Connecticut

Your right, nobody needs a handgun. Not the police, military, politicians' bodyguards or criminals. But handguns exist and they are here to stay. As long as the previously mentioned groups of people still have handguns I expect to be able to own them as well. So, the same argument can be said for motorcycles. Nobody needs them.

Not true. Motorcycles are a viable alternative to cars the world over. Guns? #1 purpose is to kill. Pretty basic.

I find it curious that this thread generates 38 pages, but threads about losing the rights that the 2nd amendment is actually supposed to protect generate much less.

The wars against tyranny aren't fought with guns anymore, then are on the floor of the legislature and the floor of the Senate, on the desk of the President that authorizes indefinite detention. The removal of habeus corpus is a far more intrusive removal of rights than requiring a background check.

I hope that everyone realizes that before you end up with the 2nd amendment but no liberty to protect with it.

I am done with this thread.

I agree with you regarding M/C's being an alternative to cars, in some cases a superior choice. But you missed my point. There are people that refer to M/C's as donorcycles or murdercycles and think they should be banned. Those same people say the owning a vehicle that can reach 200-300KpH is the same as owning a weapon. I don't agree with that, but there is always someone that thinks anything, because they don't like it or think it's dangerous should be banned.

As to your opinion that guns were developed to kill, yes originally, but nowadays in Canada guns are used for entertainment and as a sport now. To be honest I see more M/C injuries vs. gun injuries coming to the hospital that I work at.

Until the system fails. Americans and Canadians can't comprehend this notion, but it has happened in many civilized countries the world over. People have gone from having everything to having nothing in a very short span of time. I'd hate to be unarmed in such a frightening situation, facing an oppressive tyrannical regime.

Cops have em, bodyguards have em, bank transports have em...... Im gonna have em.

If you wanna be an unarmed putz, that's fine by me. I'll keep my guns.

Ya, you noticed that too, eh? It's always "ban this ban that" and "what about the children" except it's not that way at all. What's banned now? The new Corvette? ZX14? Trampolines? What? You're always going to find opposing voices. Mostly they're just voices.

I don't wanna be a putz but it's worked so far.

Good for you, keep it up, and keep your nose out of other peoples business.

Firecrackers, pit bulls, large capacity magazines, F/A firearms, junk food in schools, smoking in public places, pesticides, tanning beds for <18year old, Tommy gun vodka, Halloween costumes in schools, smoking in a car with children, alcohol sales in corner stores, buck a beer, plastic bags, etc.

Not to mention the once banned crystal head vodka.

Society taking care of their own. Don't see a problem there.:p But seriously, society is so intertwined now that whatever you do could and often does affect others negatively. That can't be ignored. But it will always be ignored by those driving a personal agenda. Why so selfish?
I'll be the first to admit that the pendulum usually swings farther to the other side than need be but thats the price of doing business. Stay vigilant, protect what's right. Like the 650HP Viper. Sure the gubment and insurance industry tried to rid the mean streets of muscle cars circa early 70s but cars are now faster than ever. That's good, right?

of course you don't see a problem.... until everyone starts crying to ban something YOU enjoy, then it just won't be fair

Thankfully Harper & Co. put us back on the right track with the elimination of the long gun registry so outright gun bans can blow me

If you have your manhood tied to gun ownership, I can appreciate the problem. If not, this comment doesn't apply to you.

No man is afraid of guns and public gun ownership.

Oh, really? I love Don Cherryesque bluster as much as the next goon. It's the feel good story of the century.

I liked Red Dawn too. I knew it was fiction though.

It must really piss the anti-gun crowd off there is absolutely **** all they can do about taking guns away from Americans.

Probably not as much as it pisses off Americans to have their gun rights eroded even just a little bit. And it's going to happen. Urine soaked cornflakes for everybody!!:p

Ask a former Yugoslavian about what can happen to a modern and successful post-WWII nation, which collapsed into bloody conflict in a matter of a couple of years. You go from having everything to having nothing, fearing your own neighbour is going to smash your door down in the middle of the night to slaughter you and your family.

I don't know why average Americans and Canadians think they're immune to such a thing. Im not saying its going to happen, but only a fool would deny the possibility.. especially with looming economic "collapse" around every corner. It doesn't even have to be as drastic as civil war... but if money was tight and unemployment was 50%, I know I'd sleep just a bit easier with a shotgun in the closet.
