Running.. ugghh

Dude you are an athlete and u have belly fat?? Makes me feel good about myself, lol. I think beer has to do alot about me not losing belly. To be honest, I kill my abs in the gym and still can't lose it. I always do upper and lower abs.

Don't get me wrong, I push myself. But I don't want to push myself so hard that I want to faint. Sometimes I feel that, lol. Thats when your brain becomes deprived of O2. You know what they say about brain cells not being re-generative. I just don't feel comfortable pushing myself all over the top consistently.

Just this recently run, my whole body hurts, even my breathing muscles, lol. I was panting so hard. Maybe I am too unfit, lol

I do have a little. I'm enjoying food a bit more as of late, as soon as summer is dwindling down I'm planning on going to boring food again, cutting and trying to lose the flubber.

I know it's the beer. I love Rickard's White but it's 178 calories a bottle!!! I've switched to Coors Light for weekends...102 calories a bottle.

I miss beer sometimes... not too often though :(

Hahahaha, whatever it takes to look like a real man. I'll just conclude by saying...

That pic gets me every time....a little exaggerated but mostly true.

Women,......... started working out 1 year ago, BRB, IFBB Bikini Pro.

Lakeside Duathlon was this morning! It was not warm! Only 9 degrees at the start of the race. Great temps for running but a bit chilly on the bike. I made out ok though. Today was the Sprint Du/Tri, tomorrow is International/Olympic distance. All the races were sold out so lots of people! I ended up 15th out of 122 so I'm pretty stoked about that, 4th place in my age group. I missed a podium finish by 1m10s.

This will be the last du for me this year so I was pushing pretty hard. I am pretty freakin sore right now.

Nice job! I hate running so i have tons of respect for all of you nutbags that do it recreationally.

Is this gonna be a yearly thing for you?

I remember competing in sports at school and how "stoked" I'll be before the race. Its like my body and mind is on overdrive. Haven't had that feeling in a long time.

Good job dude

Thx. I don't love running by any means but I still do it.. for some reason.. maybe the runner's high? I definitely plan on doing it more in the future. I did 4 duathlons this year, depending on how those schedules work with SOAR, RACE and Nationals I'll do what i can.

Thank you kind sir.

I don't get it as bad with the running/cycling as i do with moto racing but I do get that anxiousness before a race.. I just want to go.. now now now now now!!

That's awesome. It's definitely a good habit to keep if possible.

If you want to try something a little different try this:

I entered the Toronto (actually in Milton) race this year and had a blast. There were over 2000 entries!

I do a bit of running but I like to stick to trail running. The scenery breaks up the monotony, there is no car traffic, you are out of the direct sun (depending on the trail) and it's cooler.

The online results are up now so i can compare all my different intervals with everyone else in the race.

I was 6th fastest out of 123 in the ride, my two runs were 41st and 38th fastest. Not terrible, but still room to improve. I was only 1m17s out of 2nd place in my age group so that's pretty encouraging. I really didn't have much in the way of expectations when i got into this but I really feel like i could get some podium finishes next year. If i can take 10seconds/km off my run times and get a bit quicker in the transitions I'll be in good shape.... and of course i hope to be stronger still on the bike next year.

I have a problem. I've been running 3-4 times a week and have been doing distances around 5-6km with no issues for the last month or so with a couple of 7km days thrown in there. Saturday I was feeling really good and ended up doing 8.2km. After the run I was feeling great, but a couple hours after my back began to seize up. Saturday night I was in extreme back pain and could barely get out of a chair. I got massaged and icy hot before bed. Sunday and today I still have lingering back pain. What do you think happened? I didn't feel like I pulled anything during the run. In fact it was just the opposite. I felt I could have done more. I've been running very regular for the last 4 months and have proper shoes etc. Did I just over do it? I'm worried about trying to extend my distances because this back injury is going to keep me off the road all week. Suggestions?

Thanks

did u do proper running stretch before and after ?

What is exactly hurting? Your muscles in the spinal column or a sharp pain, like a pinched nerve?

Lower back around the spine. It feels pinched and and gives me a sharp pain if I try bend over. When I'm not moving my back the area just has a constant dull pain feeling in that region.

Maybe, the way you run, put a bit of shock on the spinal column.

If I was u, I would give a day or 2 then if no improvement go see a doctor.

Do u run flat-footed?

I will pay the doctor a visit Tue if I feel the same. I don't run flat footed either. The only difference I can see is the route I took was about 5km on road and 3km on dirt trails. The trails where near the end of the run. I'm normally a road runner.

I have the same problem and it's the same reason I can't do long-distance running any more/need to use a treadmill. Do you have flat feet (not technique; I mean anatomically)? That's usually the problem for a lot of people who get lower back pain when they run. A good set of insoles will get rid of the pain/make it a minor discomfort.

Stretch after, not before.

Also, make sure you have the right shoes for your feet and gait.

I haven't kept up with my running in the last two months, but when I usually run, it's every 3rd day and it's in between 5 - 8 kms. I enjoy running alone as it's a time for me to clear my thoughts and I don't listen to music, though it's nice to have once in a while. My last 10K run rung me in at 51 minutes.

@KillerKeith - there could be a number of things that could have caused your back pain. The only thing that comes to mind is that you're not stretching completely and thoroughly after your run. Go see a chiropractor or your family physician.

After barely any running since this past February, I'm starting up again. Trying to build it up slowly. Plan is to try to get out and run an all out 5K at the track by the end of October to see where I stand (hoping it's around 21min). Goal is to break 19 minutes for 5K by spring.
