Ruckus stolen! stolen? yes stolen

Rafik the part you're missing that makes it not make sense is that the video is with my landlord who doens't know how to get it off the DVR. unfortunetly when you pop a blank cd in it it reboots endlessly. so this adds an extra complication to matters as someone needs to drive to the building and review the footage, not simply have it dropped off on their desk.

as for which division it is, I'm sure bitching out a specific division is not going to help matters at all. there's been 2 detectives assigned, but both their voicemails are full, and they haven't picked up all day.

Even without the video in hand they should be taking a report. A crime is a crime.

Sometimes you just have to tell cops what to do....it's sad but true.

Oh and I wasn't going to call to ***** about it to them, I was going to call them the way I called my division and simply ask them questions on procedure.

Because if you want the Police to have a shot at doing a proper investigation then you wont publisize the vid. Might put a hamper in the investigation if the wrong people see it.

No law against it, just not a smart idea.

No way police will investigate that..
Sorry . But definitely worth at least reporting it.

Get it off the ghetto way. Play it on the biggest TV you can get it on and record it with a video camera (or your phone) on a tripod. At least then you have a copy for yourself.

Post it everywhere. Post it to YouTube too. Get all your buddies to post the same video as well. Add in a reward. Times are tough and information is gold!

Why don't you post the video here? Who knows what resources some people here may have.

The other problem with that is if the truck was stolen for this heist and then recovered, there is a risk the owner may face vigilante justice when he did nothing wrong.

True :(.

Thieves. The hemorrhoids of society. They pile on enough irritation to be one big pain in the azz after another.

There's never been vigilante justice against bike thieves, even when there's info about who the thieves are. Lots of talk, zero action. Anyone dish out any payback to R1 Timmay or that Italian-tattoo crew? I didn't think so.

i call every 2 shifts. were the f are u getting ur facts from that's probably the dumbest statement ever made on this or any site for tat matter. that's just plan and simple ignorance

I'm far from a fan of the popo but I must agree with 06ravens.

also, sorry to hear about your loss. Whether it be a $3k Rukus, $15k SS or a $400 bicycle, it hurts and I feel for you and your g/f.

I'd agree with the other posters and demand that the cops look into it (for what it's worth) but you've not many choices.

If you can't get it off the LL's PVR then I lwould take the ghetto suggestion approach of videoing it on a tv and posting it here.

Good luck and by the way who says vigilantism is no good? Off topic, my buddy just got home invaded yesterday at 7pm, he lives near Hurontario and Eglington. A dude knocks on the door (detached house), he looks out the peep hole and sees 1 unassuming black guy wearing a cap. Opens door, dude punches my buddy in face and 3-4 other guys rush in.

My buddy and wife get tied up in the basement, they beat my buddy, ransak the house and leave.

It could've been much worse but it's total horse **** that stuff like this happens. I search the Peel police and TPS websites for any info and find nothing. As a matter of fact, the Peel police site only has 3 occurances listed for October 12. Now they should really be applauded for the great job of keeping the general public aware of cases like this, my hats off to them...3 instances in all of Peel region on a random day? come on.

Anyways, who said vigilantism is not good? If came across these scum bags I would beat the living **** out of them or get my *** kicked in the process. Either which way...Viva la resistance:D

I was thinking the same thing, or slightly less ghetto, just hook the DVR up to a VHS machine and press record. Finding a VHS tape these days would be the hardest part ;)

I also have a device similar to this that you can borrow if you want:

Avermedia-MEZUSBGDR-A46-412.jpg

I've used that to capture video from my Rogers PVR into digital format (example here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jSuWbdJy5A ). Probably better to have a digital copy than a VHS tape.

But either way I would think getting _something_ to the cops so they can start their investigation is the important part - just make sure that your landlord keeps the original copy on the DVR so if the cops make progress and they need proper evidence they can forensically retrieve the footage in a defensible manner.

Despite the fact that we have no evidence of his involvement in the thefts, it's pretty plain to see that he is at risk of facing vigilante justice. Which only goes to prove my point.

OK then.

Why not just buy a DVR from best buy or future shop record while the other DVR is playing. Burn it to DVD. And return it to best buy or future shop once your done.
This way the police will have the best possible quality of video to begin they're investigation.

What if?

GF not interested in bike anymore. Stages a theft story to throw BF off so she can Pocket the cash from a bike he paid for. OP not getting return calls from police, no way to know what's really going on. GF reports bike stolen, later calls and cancels report saying she forget a "friend" had a key and borrowed the bike. Really, to take a bike by van you need two people. Who would waste their time on a ruckus, how would you motivate a buddy to help with this waste of their time. If I were the op I would find out more about this friend and why she's busy on her birthday.

I believe plate once reported stolen never goes back into rotation, recovered or not... so this shouldn't be an issue.
