Ruckus stolen! stolen? yes stolen

Because if you want the Police to have a shot at doing a proper investigation then you wont publisize the vid. Might put a hamper in the investigation if the wrong people see it.

No law against it, just not a smart idea.

Just a quick question...
Why haven't the police done anything with all the footage they have from SS bikes being stolen out of condos?

The only time I heard of bikes being recovered is when they busted the thieves with 15+bikes earlier this season.
Don't think the cops will do much.

OP- sorry to hear about the situation, especially being her bday tomorrow.

she's at the police station right now. told her to ask for the duty supervisor. they're just giving her the "we don't have the resources to deal with this, go away". I guess all the 'resources' are out sitting in speed traps. easy money.

won't post the video till after the cops have hopefully found resources..

we park in the same spot, so now I feel it's only a matter of time before mine goes missing. day/week, month? atleast I have theft. but then that'll just be a nightmare of arguing with the insurance company..

BAH!

Probably thought it was a big Ruckus. lol. Anyway as been said, anything is wanted by someone. There is a real following for the small Rukii to kit out. Also without much mods a GY6 125cc can be dropped in the frame. Just google them and check some of the U tubes

Do you have some sort of insite to Police investigations. How do you know they don't do anything with the footage???

You ever think there is not enough in the footage to do anything. I've reviewed footage at many places and the quality of security cameras at most places even high end buisiness towers down town are very pore. Most of the time plates can not be made out and zooming in just makes the pic more blurry.

Also, usually if the plate is visible its a stolen one.

Cops arn't magical and cannot be everywhere all the time. They deal with crap all day long and seriously don't need to be crapped on by regular people too.

The OP has every right to report this incident and should. That is why I suggested going in personally to the station. Cops are people and you get crappy and lazy people in any work place, if you're not satisfied with the service you just move up higher in the scale.

Yes, you definitely at least want a report on file.

That's my point, even if there is video footage, chances are it's not going to get anybody any where.

you know, I've always thought GPS trackers should go on expensive bikes, but I think I may order one for my 500 now.

looks like times are tough on everyone right now.

Waste of money, most thieves have a GPS blocker. Cost a couple bucks online.

Yea but she hasn't spoken with a supervisor yet. You think a desk officer is the desiding factor on what cases they have funds/resorces for??? Usually the officers that get stuck there are there for a reason...

They're full of ****. There's no way that they don't have a vehicle theft department, and the least they could do is take the video and catalogue it, maybe see if it comes up against any exisiting info blah blah blah... Never thought I'd say this but FTP, seriously.

incorrect.

everyone always says that, but incorrect. how good do you think a $3 blocker works?
anyways, whether they do or not the last 'bust' where they found the guys stealing bikes was becuase someone had a gps tracker.

so I guess some people can thank him for wasting money.

the garmin GTU-10 looks like the only good option.

I just got off the phone with my local police station.. Called them directly at 416 808 (division #)00. I told them your story and it made no sence as it made no sence to me. If you had called TPS non emergency line at 416 808 2222 or 911 the dispatchers would have sent TPS out as they have no call on what gets investigated or not. TPS then usually asked you some questions and askes if you would like to report it.

I also asked her if I had come in with video would she have someone help me and do up a report and she said absolutely. It would get sent to Major Crimes Unit (pretty sure thats what she said it was) and they would do up a report and check out the vid.

What station are you at. I'll call them up right now.

Obviously not everyone is a smart thief. But i've tested a GPS blocker that i bought from DX and it works quite well for a couple meters.

+1

Make a copy of the vid first.

My experience is that the police are about as usefull as a steaming turd to the average citizen. They are underworked big time and lazy, the average T.O. cop responds to a whopping 1 call every 2 shifts. No point in even going to them they don't care.

TPS are civilian positions...so they'll hand off to the cops who will probably give the same response to them, but since they all work for the same team, tehy're proably more loose with how they ridicule the request with each other.

Besides, you also agreed the plate is probably stolen, so what's the point?

Post the vid, hopefully someone sees their face.

Just cuase it might be stolen doen't mean it is. There are some really stupid criminals out there, we all know this.

The guys behind the counter are cops, wearing full out uniforms and have guns. They are not civilians. At least in all the divisions I've walked into over the years.
