Royal Enfield

wondering what this bike would be like? Any thoughts

There's a long-trip review of that thing on YouTube somewhere. It's one of those 'you get what you pay for' bikes. Loaded with all kinds of Chinese options that break. The biggest problem will always be product support. There isn't any.

... that has to be a fluke, that could not possibly happen to more than ...

several of them

Seen that as well, if you posted the rest of what was said. They have fixed the frame problem that was on the 17 and 18 models

It was a 19 model. Check this guy out: (Note: professional welders do not watch this video it will be too painful)

They must not teach welding in India :|

I’m sure that chain is fine now. My last boss “fixed” the equipment just like that. Over and over again.

Stick welding with brazing glasses. Two thumbs up.

Honest, there’s two thumbs. Just squint.

I bet there's plenty of good welding businesses in India
do you think that RE owner was willing to pay for a tear-down and proper weld?

it's like anywhere
you get the quality you are willing to pay for

So much wrong in the home brew videos I would not know where to start, but the point is R-E frames are/were cracking in more then one place. The steering head which is the most stressed assembly on the entire motorcycle obviously lacks triangulation supports or gusseting on the bike in question and the welds have zero penetration, surly they welded up a couple and tried to break them before the went into full production. That is called destructive product testing and it is not normally performed at the consumer level.

Let me put it another way, the bike has almost no backbone unless those welds are all awesome:

done on an assembly line with robotic welders??

who says there is no union for robots???
In India? welding robots:ROFLMAO: there is a reason they build **** in places where labour is cheap
it's not because the local people are great at fixing industrial robotics or because the power infrastructure is cheap and stable.

... the other up side is they can pollute the **** out of a 3rd world country and not have it in their own back yard.

 but I want to see the guy or machine that welds the Himalayan frame and the stress analysis of the headstock.

they say in this video they have addressed the frame issues

Yes he says it has a reinforced swingarm and chassis :| so they learned what a gusset is for but did they learn what weld penetration is yet?
