Would have bought the Himalayan but it has no power up top. Can't survive on North American highways.
The guys in Lakefield had some last time I looked.50-50 whether they have one there. They had to swing a deal with another dealer to get my neighbour’s bike in. Took a week.
?Now they just need to supply parts including complete crate engines in ridiculous numbers at great prices and they stand a chance of being like a next Honda CB350
saturate the market with your product, everybody will want one :|
They used some misdirection in a few things as well. The Brembos are Indian, and the Pirelli Phantoms on them are made in Brazil, not the German ones.saturate the market with your product, everybody will want one :|
crate engines; everybody will want to race one or use it in mysterious ways.
needs to be so cheap the buyer thinks omg I need one at that price just to beat on.
... it's made in India not Germany
Not the GT, but I have ridden the older models - RE 350 CI and the RE 500 (not the classic, the older cast iron 500). They have reliability issues big time. I remember being stranded with a leaking head gasket on a 350, dead into the night.
My experience as well. Was fixing the RE500 on the side of the road every single day on our India trip.
BTW, just read your Ladakh ride report on BCM. We were there three months after you did your ride, during that huge monsoon.
Better yet check out this vidwatch Itchy Boots on YouTube...she went almost around the world on the Himalayan but had to cut it short when Covid hit...
