Riding with a BACKPACK?

not an option??

Used MEC one for long time. Make sure it's comfortable and don't recommend for very long rides. Got a givi case was nice putting all my shopping things inside.

I dislike backpacks as well. A tank bag and tail pack is a better option or side cases (either soft or hard). If a backpack is convenient to carry around off the bike, I suggest rokstraps to tie it down to the pillon seat.

When I bought my bike, the previous owner threw in a Gears Navigator tailpack.

I later upgraded to hard luggage, but I used the tailpack for a year first. It was really good - it wasn't that noticeable when on the bike, it came with a good and effective rain cover, and it was secure. About the only 'against' points were that due to the shape it could be a little hard to load, it encroached a little on the seat, and I'd suggest putting down painters' tape so the attachment lines don't mar the bike paint (mine did, only a little).

Still, I keep it around and I'll lend it to a buddy during trips. It's no more expensive than one of the more pricey backpacks you were looking at.

I'm putting a change of clothes in it bc i work in an office environment. nothing too heavy.. I know i need one that fits.

That's good to hear. You want to be careful about what you put in it. I know of a kid who had some pop cans in his backpack and when he ran off the road he ended up with spinal cord damage.

Gotta post this awesomeness again! Is the awesomeness not evident?!?!?!

i love this i want it! can i fit my heels and lunch

i just ride to work sometimes with my cheap 25 dollar back pack from walmart lol

i think the key is to watch out for loose straps with hard plastics on the end (my old backpack had that). in the wind they can scratch ur bike and helmet, oh and it hurts too having one whip at you for kilometers on end on the highway. it flew up and went around my jacket to hit my collarbone once while my jacket was only zipped 3/4s of the way on a hot summer day lol...

so just make sure the dangling lines when you tighten up your backpack arent made of hard plastic at the end and you should be good

Backpack whips are like having an evil little jockey forcing you to go faster (actually in this case slower). You feel the weight of this oppressive drawrf on your back whipping your *** and thighs and you just wanna get to the destination and end it.

Laptop: check
Files: check
Heels: check (in the hump inner pocket. Might be better to leave the shoes at work though)
Lunch (too): check (if it is flat, like a sandwhich, banana and juice box. Or at least distributed in a creative manner in the bag).
