Riding during stay at home order.

Show me the proof of your 20% .

If you get zero raise . It is like losing 2.2% a year . Everything goes up . If you do not get inflation it is like taking a pay cut .
At least use Google before saying this kind of stuff in public.

As most public sector jobs should. You get rock solid stability and a pension. Should pay ~10% less than equivalent private sector and they would still have quality applicants that want the stability. Most public sector employees have been drinking the koolaid for so long they dont realize what the world is like outside. Dont get me started on the idiocy or obstinence of completely discounting discussion around total comp or comp per hour and instead focusing only on salary with any mention of vacation causing ps employees to lose their crap.

I see 9.4% and 5.8% in unionized jobs difference . The government worker does not get a big raise when times are good . They get a premium for most having dead end jobs. Many do not move up from a clerk or other boring jobs that need to be done . In private sector if you have talent the world is your oyster . In public service you get what you get .If the jobs are so great not sure why everyone doesn't work for the government . They are always hiring .

This crappy weather has shut down most riding this wk so far:mad:

It's public service, there's no glory to be had by definition.

What you gain is typically a full pension and unequalled job security.

How many of them lost a pay cheque during the last year? Do you think they should have, since they were paid by people who lost theirs? How many businesses have to close or positions terminated before they start to lay off the public service?

I'm private, well paid for my position, no pension but i get my 2% a year. If i asked for a raise they would laugh at me, plenty of people in line ready to do my job for less.

Read both links. the average is 9.4 and the other article says 10 to 20 percent. people love to pick and choose info on here to be falsely correct.
civil service in canada adds 20,000 people on average per year and the government is the largest employer in canada . so many many are working for and trying to work for the government.

Are they siting at home due to their fault ? They are sitting at home because medical officer of health sent them home .

Who do you lay off in government at this time ? Pretty well everyone working from home .

Your 10 to 20% has no backing . Just a statement with no proof . Our populations is growing so will the government . Not saying we need that many . But we do need some government to make the country work .

Bingo.

Government forces business to close, so theoretically some areas of the public service have now slowed down. Did those people get re tasked? Did they just twiddle their thumbs on the couch at home collecting full pay? I bet they did.

I'm lucky, i'm in a field with high demand and not near enough to fill the voids. I can pretty much pick and chose what and where i what to work. But i worked hard to get to this level, never once taking for granted the blessing I've had along the way

i'd become a technician of some sort if i could do it all again. sadly my 'love' for wrenching didn't come till later in life.

Were private sector employees sitting at home due to their fault? Where they being paid full wages? Every person on furlough should have been punted to CERB whether they were private or public. Leaving public at full wage while private got Cerb was a huge huge expense paid for by our grandkids as there wasn't much tax being collected.

JT had them spin up a special code to give them all full salary while they sat at home and did no work. Not work at home, just stay home for many months and collect the riches. They should have been on CERB with everyone else.

There is no link to any study on your link . Just a general statement to studies . Just because it is on a Canadian government web site does not make it so .

" Study after study shows that public sector worker pay is 10% - 20% higher than private sector worker pay for the same type job."

No link to the study or where it came from .
