Record profits aren't enough

Apparently RBC got facebook to shut down the group that called for RBC's boycott.

Even better that will just cause 20 more of them to pop up. It just makes them look more guilty.

nothing new for big business, one of the big telcos sent there work to india years ago, seems its the way of the world screw your own people for the sake of a dollar.

And as for RBC's claim that they're doing everything they can to help these employees 'transition' and find positions elsewhere in the company - complete baloney, according to my neighbour.

yep, and us as a country just keeps taking it, even when they protest against the crap they get beat by the man and our government just lets it happen. **** THE GOVERNMENT AND COR-PIRATES

Standard company spin. They're not the bad guy, they're trying to help. blah blah blah.

If they can't turn a profit while paying their workers a living wage, there's a problem with their business plan. Of course, what they like to gloss over is that they can still turn a tidy profit, but it's a lot tidier if they use foreign migrant slaves instead

... while RBC's CEO is the highest paid bank CEO in the country.

Anybody with half a brain will know that is far from the truth

Sent from my Phone, dont judge the grammar

Sad isn't it?
Since this country has had a population that thinks Unions are not for them, most things have spun & are spinning out of control.
The people of this country will just keep on taking it, as you've noticed. In order to actually do anything about 'such' problems, the population would need to "Unite"..............unfortunately for many, and or all, that ain't happening anytime soon.

Crabs in a bucket syndrome

"RBC is not hiring new employees that are temporary foreign workers to do that work," she said in a phone interview, noting that those who will take on the work "are going to be the supplier's employees."

It's a very clever trick used by many companies.
RBC's stupidity --> getting the phased out employee's to train the new ones.

Exactly. Anyone in IT has been (or will be or knows someone) laid off and replaced by contractors or out-sourced. It is becoming 'standard practice' in IT. I was never asked to train a replacement. Pretty sure I wouldnt do it either (or do it really badly if they really had no idea what I did)

All a symptom of the political partisanship that has grown up in the US, and to a lesser extent here. Every time that I hear a union leader speak, I start thinking about Karl Marx. Every time that I hear a business type speak, I start to think about Ayn Rand.

No one likes to stand in the middle, anymore, which is a big part of the reason why realism has gone into hiding.

The finest example of partisanship I've seen in my life was; Bush Jr walking into the White House with his "men" the day after losing the election to Gore, & the Dems did nothing about it. I wonder to this day, how thick the GOP lined Gore's pockets to walk away.

I used to work for a company which found my already low wage to be a bit too much, so they always wanted to replace me with somebody working for minimum wage to save a few bucks.. Whenever I got a trainee assigned, I'd make sure to put so much on their plates that they'd run away screaming "not for what they're paying me".. Went through about 8 trainees before I GTFO that place (voluntarily) and onto greener pastures.. They tried to get me to stay longer and "train a replacement" but they still had like 3 of my "capable" trainees working in other department, so 2 weeks and I was out and they had to choose between Larry, Curly and Mo :D

Been there. Done that.

As much as they want to go cheaper, you get what you pay for.

I had a different angle. They kept bringing in people to train as my 'assistant' who were fresh into the country and had incredible resumes, but no Canadian experience. I was never sure if it was because the sales manager wanted to poach me for sales, or if they wanted to move me out for someone they could pay less. I kept training the guys so well that 4 of them left the company for jobs that paid better than mine.

Oh well.

Capitalism will capitalate?!

And yes i work for RBC, and yes i love being bilingual, brings a huge job security when it comes to that kinda of BS.

Who knows, maybe we could get a boatload of Haitians here to replace them. We can pay them 50c/day

....so far.....

You want job security? go work for the post office.

There's no such thing as job security anymore. I don't believe there is, anyway.
