Record profits aren't enough

One my neighbours is one of the employees being laid off. She's worked for RBC for over 30 years. She's not really in a position to retire yet. Yay global economy! I'd really like to see this story go viral and start creating public relations nightmares for these companies. Slashing away at the Canadian middle class to save a few bucks....not realizing that eventually there will be no one to buy their product or service.

Greed!
The message will be sent when someone sadly goes postal.

There's a lot more to this. For example these foreign workers don't have to get paid overtime due to some technicality, but they often work over 12hr a day. They rent an apartment and share it. Go ahead and compete against that.

Why don't all RBC employees walk out and strike? This would be a legitimate reason.

The sheeps are too scared and dumb to see they are being divided and conquered.
It was funny stuff to read on the right as per the Government's response. Oh we did not know that would happen.

At the end of the day why not provide funds and training to KEEP CANADIANS employed.
Seems obvious to me.

Put your money where your mouth is and close your RBC accounts, folks. If I had one, I'd be at the branch tomorrow morning terminating my business with the bank. Hit em where it hurts and show your displeasure with this outsourcing ********.

Looks like the war on unionized labour and middle class is paying off.. I know I'll be moving my financial services away from RBC. You also have a mining company that claims that they can't find anyone to work in their mine while miners are getting laid off left and right and say that they gotta bring in 4000 Chinese migrant slaves.

This is a cause someone needs to start a Facebook campaign against.
Great idea but we both know ppl are too lazy and selfish.

This is just sad. The greed running rampant.
I can only think about those dead soldiers giving limb and life and now we sell out our own people and country.

Can someone posts some RBC senior execs email addy's.
If anyone works for them just post them up for us.
We can just send emails telling them if they don't stop and make a public statement that we are closing our accounts with them.

Let your money do the talking for you by closing your accounts.

Race to the bottom. This sucks. A guy like Hitler could make hay with this.

Motherfu.....all my banking is with RBC, and i really like them since i switched from TD....I'm gonna go deposit a cheque tomorrow and have a chit chat with them... Thats pure BS.

The CEO of Royal Bank of Canada is Gordon Nixon. DO make sure you send him a letter explaining why you are cancelling all of your RBC accounts and will no longer do business with them until they reverse this stupid decision.

I'd do it myself, except I already don't have any accounts with them.

Yup, that's the M.O. of the big corps these days. Boot out senior employees before retirement, no pension pay outs. I've seen it happen at 2 companies I've worked for. CEO gets fat bonus for downsizing payroll expenses. Shareholders stay happy as long as their stocks go up.

Happy to say I dropped RBC years ago after I had to fight them tooth and nail for a $50 taxi fare that was billed twice to my Visa. Also dropped CIBC years before that, after working for them and seeing what they're like from the inside. TD is great for me (I have no working association with them). Also use PC bank (even though they are CIBC indirectly) and ING, no problems.

Sociopaths and psychopaths have infested all the corporate boardrooms.

I'm with CIBC. I've been wanting to tell them to FOAD for a while now and switch to a Credit Union. Seems daunting though. Mortgage, investments, RRSP, RESP, TFSA etc. Anyone pull it off?

I dropped RBC a few years ago when I got into a fight with a mortgage specialist bully there and the branch manager that was supporting him. I refuse to do business with RBC even though I liked their avion card.

Moved my savings to CIBC and ICICI. TD and Scotia for personal and business.

Scotia is getting very competitive with it's offerings and services. Too bad they won't have extended hours and sundays like TD.

BMO was good when I was a student, but they ****** me off when they said wanted to charge me to apply to be a business client. They want me to pay them to for giving me the opportunity to be their client... no thx!

+1 but, can you blame them?
The executive team is brought in for 1 reason - grow and maximize shareholder's profit under any legal means necessary.
Look at how compensation structure has changed over the years - the majority of executive compensation is tied to future stock value.

Many issues at play here aside from bashing RBC based on personal grievances.

North America has become too efficient for its own good.
