Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

4k UHD is wonderful but aside from that it is a great movie....
Been long enough since I watched it have forgotten stuff. 🍿

UHD is really impressive in some scenes especially those in space.
Duct tape very useful -
Not sure what I watched...there is a 4k Blu Ray extended not that I care.

Might as well read the book

Well it is a tornado double header

Tornado Valley
still watching
🍿

Don't know what to make of this....the cg and disaster footage was amazing, the plot rather ragged and over the top.
was okay in the end just for the special effects

lol, originally posted in the wrong thread.

Snake & Mongoose

Drag racing version of Rush or Ford vs Ferrari, I did enjoy it. Direct to video quality with TV people in the main parts. The beginning was odd as they kind of started with some background--but did not spend enough time on it IMO--and then jumped forward to the main story.

If you like drag racing or car movies it is a decent enough watch.

Was this an older film? I watched a movie about Don Prudhomme but it was likely from the 70's.

who ever tipped me on this thanks...actually was another forum. Worth the watch...terrific production....
an Irish western indeed right down to the music. (y) 🍿

Damn 4 hours - watching the movie and reading the book. 🍿 Love the music
Geez the film is 35 years old....while it's nice to see familiar indigenous actors, many are aging now as I am
Graham Greene and Wes Studi very familiar to Canadians and Tantoo Cardinal, just saw her in Quebec production.

Mannn nostalgia can be a real bit*h
Between nothing and something to watch I decided to check out Young Guns & YGII.... I remember them being much better. They are both terrible movies. Really, very little to redeem here.

First one Sheen's character dies half way through, by a lone gun man whom they practically had cornered, so of course they up and run, leaving the body of their buddy, and make nothing of his death. Wat!

looks good and a true story 🍿

Unforgiven lurking on Netflix so will watch that when I get back from Bowls Club. Been a while

Remarkable image quality - HDR really brings out the original film. Doesn't help the sucky dialogue. 🍿
There is a Blu Ray transfer available so that may be what I'm looking at on Prime.
Score:
Cast: Gregory Peck, Jean Simmons, Carroll Baker, Charlton Heston, Burl Ives, Charles Bickford, Chuck Connors, Alfonso Bedoya Director: William Wyler Screenwriter: James R. Webb, Sy Bartlett, Robert Wilder Distributor: Kino Lorber Running Time: 166 min Rating: NR Year: 1958
Gotta think some of the stunts wouldn't make the current film environment....it's very good.

Well I tried the original Unforgiven with Burt Lancaster and Audrey Hepburn but not in the same enjoyment range as the Big Country for me. Got a toothache anyway so I'm cranky. Struggled to find anything that appealed but this does.

Will and Harper. A documentary on Netflix is…different.

I wasn’t sure how to take this as the subject matter is pretty controversial right now and then couple that with the fact that I’m not a huge Will Ferrel fan.

Basically Will’s oldest friend comes out as a trans woman. They decide to tour the US and go to the haunts that the friend was at when they were a man.

I won’t comment on the whole trans thing but here’s what comes across. Will Ferrel seems to be a very caring genuine human being and his friend has had a deeply troubling time. I thought this documentary would be forced for the cameras but it isn’t. Regardless of your point of view on the subject matter it’s actually pretty heartwarming. You see human kindness and human cruelty laid bare.

Worth a watch.

He was the head writer at SNL when Will Ferrel was a cast member.
