A movie that can emotionally engage me as much as that one did is both a good and bad thing. I'd not want to watch it again because the one time I did made me realize that I would happily push pretty much every male character in the movie off a very high bridge, with a smile on my face.

Hehe - reminded me of the ending of Wild Things tho in that case you had to watch all the way through the credits to catch all the story mysteries.
Now on to the second installment.
Lisbeth in Dragon was a fantastic fictional character and cast perfectly by the Swedes as a predator....the American version was all wrong for casting.

The other perfect casting like that was in the French Tranferts...the 14 year old gangster tho her role was much smaller. Good watch.

Quite a back story with Natalie Portman and her parents on that one. Talk about a wild child...some of the stuff she pulled Jean Reno was not prepped for and they had to dumb down Leon ...whatever........ Portman started her debut with a lot of controversy. I think there is more to the story her being more of a provocateur than covered here. ( ie SHE wanted a shower/shower curtain scene that was nixed ......at 12!!!!) Read a good piece on that a while back but cannot locate.
Two of my fav actors and a great film.

On to the third Dragon movie.... 🍿

Finished the Dragon Tattoo trilogy ...brilliant cinema. Think I'll read for a bit. Have a lot of Harry Potters to go.

Zach Snyder is running on empty
Hacks usually do.

ZS in a, slo mo, nutshell
Slow mo, slow mo pretentious group walk, slo mo for no reason, lightening fx, lightening fx slow mo, close up rage face with, of course, slo mo. 3rd act incoherent over the top action scenes, that completely destroy everything, and cartoonish fx and motion.
Release a "Synder" cut that is a longer run time, with just more slow motion with cool background settings which have nothing to do with anything. Repeat for every movie etc.

This looks okay - good cast. Buddy did this walk in Sept this year - 800 km !!! same age as as me.
Funny they start with a Dutchman sitting down to share a table....seems a national trait.
Startled me the first time I experienced it. Almost empty cafe but a couple sat down at the big trestle style table and we had a grand old chat.....and raw herring.

Better reviews than Walk in the Woods tho I enjoyed it as well....

Leave the World Behind. Strange film. Interesting. Its on NetFlix.
I found it a bit confusing but well done & the day after I watched it NetFlix sent me an emailed link to help me find out what I'd missed :)

You want Ethan Hawke and confusing? Watch Predestination. Based on a (very) short story All You Zombies written by Robert A. Heinlein (in an afternoon).

Zack Snyder's "Rebel Moon" - The only way there could be more slo-mo is if the whole movie was shot at quarter speed. There are even times that slo-mo isn't enough so he slows the slo-mo. These are just from the first 10 minutes:
  • It's the Yamato!
  • Transparent pan from opening banner and battleship, down to planet. I see what you did there.
  • Sound stage is obviously sound stage.
  • Slow motion grain fall. Why?
  • Oh, look. Serenity is coming into town.
Gods, but this is bad. It's as if "300", "Star Wars", and "Warhammer" had some horrible, gelatinous, mutant child. It was legitimately a struggle to watch the two and a quarter hours of the bloody thing. The dialogue is bad. The acting is pretty bad too, so it doesn't save the bad dialogue. I think the 5.8 that IMDB is giving it is pretty generous.

Last few days on Netflix - been meaning to watch. Did not buy the 4k BR version tho might yet.
what a great cast...been long enough have forgotten details. Pretty decent in HD...
Not entirely sure it needs the 4k UHD - the bit of grain does not hurt the film.
It's a fine movie. (y)
