Queen took the big dirt nap when Freddie died. Lambert...meh.

Got to agree that there’s only ever one Queen band for me and that was with Freddie Mercury. Whatever Lambert is doing should be called something else.

The band members and Lambert himself concur with that.
That said, Queen is NOT Mercury either - there are three others and of all things it is their opinion plus the publics acceptance which has been massively supportive
It's Queen and Adam Lambert.
But Queen is far from morbid.....many many bands have shifted members and change in direction ( early Fleetwood Mac for instance ).

As the song goes....you can't always get what you want.....
I like Lambert AND Queen and I'm happy to get what I need.

Luther was a good watch. Even better if you've watched the series.

Everything Everywhere..... watched 2/3rds of it and it's not overly entertaining and kind of dumb in many parts.

Queen made one album after Freddie died. A tribute to him.

I just watched "The Tall Man" on Netflix last night. I think that it's classed under horror, but doesn't quite fit that definition. Really good movie, though. Not many keep me guessing and this did.

re watching Elvis now it is on Netflix again. (y)
Austin Butler deserved Best Actor Oscar for that performance.

The film has received various awards and nominations. Elvis garnered three Golden Globe nominations at the 80th ceremony, winning for Best Actor. It received eight nominations at the 95th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Sound, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Costume Design, and Best Film Editing. Elvis was named one of the ten best films of 2022 by the American Film Institute.

I watched The Whale. Brendan Fraser carried that. I get the feeling that if anyone else had played it then it wouldn’t have done as well, it was just perfectly cast. Having said that it was a good film but it felt a little bit empty. It’s set entirely in his house, mainly in one room, I could see it being a great play on the stage. I’m still trying to work out what exactly was the message here; redemption, regret, self pity? Worth a watch imo.

"Die Hart" and "Die Hart 2" - Pretty good but to be great Kevin Hart would need to be shot and beat up more, to make it truly satisfying.

My take was self pity, evolving to wanting to be a better man and parent, no matter the cost, which in the end was his life.

I was lucky enough to see Adam Lambert when he brought down the house at American Idol. It was a spooky experience. One of those performances that get goosebumps. He did Mad World and the songs writer called after the performance and congratulated him. Hard to find a quality original from the performance that catches Simon Cowell's reaction and the rising electricity in the theatre,
Sorry, but that's just a cover of the Andrews and Jules cover which had the real originality:

Just a cover ? Don't think so ....and it was the performance and audience that set it apart ...Simon rarely ever gives anyone a standing ovation, he did that night...there was just flat out electricity in the audience.....frisson big time.

Mad World’ singer Gary Jules calls Adam Lambert’s cover ‘unique and beautiful’

Jules, who’s famous for his own cover of the Tears for Fears song, calls Adam the most interesting contestant ‘Idol’ has ever had

I just think there was more originality in Jules' version from the original Tears For Fears than from Lambert's to Jules'. I am only commenting on the originality, not the performance itself.
