Looking at images and schematics of the "sub", I'd probably nominate the 5 people on board for the Darwin award.
I hate clickbait crap like this.Nope, but I am a bit interested in it.
Apparently all kinds of sketchy stuff has been release over the past couple of days about the sub and it's company/CEO. Maybe doomed from the start.
Submarine missing near Titanic used a $30 Logitech gamepad for steering
While rescuers fear for OceanGate crew, Logitech F710 PC gamepad sells out within minutes.arstechnica.com
There might be a chance they can be found alive, if the predictions about the amount of air is correct, and whatever happened wasn't catastrophic.
Anything around the Titanic generally peaks my attention, 80's kid, was always a fascinating story, even more so when they found it.
Last night my wife and I were talking about it and she said the exact same thing. Not sure if I should be worried.I can't imagine what it's like to be in that sub if they are still alive.
Having 96 hours to waiting/contemplating your death, trapped with 5 people in a tight space that will be your coffin. Maybe in total darkness, maybe at 0C.
What thoughts go through your mind?
Do I kill them all to extend the oxygen supply for me?
....If I do that, with decomposing gases kill me faster?
Do you kill yourself to end the excruciating mental pressure?
Do the minutes go by fast or slow?
One thing is for sure... I'm never going to be there.
Well, one of the fathers brought his son on board so he and his son may both qualify (not sure if he has other kids).cant all get the Darwin award, couple fathers on the sub, to technically to qualify you have to end your input to the gene pool.
@klr-guy , your maybe a dick , but I dont think so . We all get to pick what bothers us. The nutters running schools in Niagara have me shaking my head this morning, and its Indiginous something day today.
I love the ocean , I am a diver , I'm facinated with everything going on out there . This sub however seems to be a homemade gadget and the CEO a bit of a a wild card in the exploration industry. Anytime I hear about a guy that thinks the industry safety regulations are hindering developement in a business a bunch of red flags go up for me .
From what I have seen redundancy was very low and afaik there were no physical gages. I would not trust a Chinese knockoff ps3 controller with my life. Having every data point entirely reliant on angry pixies is not a good design. As a minimum, I want real pressure gauges on oxygen and outside pressure .I hate clickbait crap like this.
Oooh, they used an off the shelf highly reliable and easily swappable product. This is good design theory. Use things that are already proven as opposed to cobbling your own proprietary system. The Navy does it because it cuts down on training time, works well and is fast to change out in the event of a malfunction.
It looks like there are lots of other issues to pick on. The bonding of the hull is sketchy as hell.
I hope everyone gets out ok, but missing bored millionaires are very low on my list of priorities right now.
I can't wait to see the tax payer bill after search and rescue as well.
Good questions…kill the others to get more oxygen but then methane from the bodies kills your faster, as well as the exertion of the actual deed.I can't imagine what it's like to be in that sub if they are still alive.

So did he finish it? Did you go for a ride? I used to do more freediving stuff but haven't in a long time. On the hunt for a lost anchor, we made up a diving plane out of a board so I could get towed around near the bottom to cover area faster. Found the anchor far away from where they said they lost it.Guy at our old cottage spent 10yrs building a towable submersible out of a big propane tank . Idea was you tow it behind a boat and using fins like an airplane wing you could go down or up. He saw plans in Popular Mechanics in 1961 . It was about as sophisticated as this one they are now looking for .
