Re: the titanic submersible issue

I don't understand when the Titanic is considered a grave site why in earth would they treat it as a carnival ride to visit
Ignorant people gonna be ignorant. (And it's in international waters, there's not really anything to stop them, outside of the extreme difficulty of getting there.)

Surely there's more room in there than the area he's sitting in??

They call them "mission specialists" and pretend they are doing research. It's a lot like the japanese whaling research vessels that harvest as many whales as they can get their hands on for "research" (and conveniently sell the slaughtered research animals so they don't go to waste).

No that's it. Five people in there. Toilet is a potty you would give your one year old and a piss jug your dad would use at the hunting camp. Throw a towel over your lap.

Not likely the case here, But if they are picking up a signal one could think they have a direction to point them in.

The company and cheerleaders are in damage limitation mode on the BBC. One has already rejected the term “tourists” and has stated that the crew are doing valuable research on how the wreck is aging etc. What a load of bollocks. It’s a ******* platinum priced exclusive joyride ticket for people with more money than sense.

Some part of the apparatus having suffered some damage operating on a cycle timer perhaps.

Every thirty minutes on the hour and the half hour for 3 minutes is apparently the protocol for emergency alerts underwater. It discriminates between natural and unnatural noise because of the schedule.

..I got duped by a text from a dumbass aquaintance who said the sub was found.

Guy I shoot skeet with owns a company with a fleet of ROVs and submersibles and has over 200 divers under contract around the world , he specializes in inspecting dams and construction underwater . I asked yesterday about his thoughts on this missing sub thing, he had no comment and looked into his coffee . That actually told me a lot .
What a needless loss.

I truly don't care, am I a dick?
Everyone has their level of concern. Some self appointed princesses are more peeved about the temperature of their espresso. Others have a kid in ER. Someone is about to lose their house and worrying about a bunch of millionaires playing ego games isn't in the cards.

It's not sounding good and hasn't for a while. We all have to die someday and it shouldn't be in agony.

What's the death toll in Ukraine today?

Recovery would be good for family closure but the money would buy a lot of food for those living in refuge camps. Those not employed by governments know there is a limit to spending.

Read somewhere that they ran out of air about an hour or so ago. RIP.

Another 100 people missing off the Canary Islands today along with the 500 still missing from the Greek boat disaster. Regardless of what you think about immigrants every single one of them was just trying to better their lives and none of them are receiving the amount of attention this submersible is. Sad commentary on the present day where certain people are more or less deemed expendable.

I feel really bad for the employee/pilot. Yes he could have quit but people have pressures in their life that can make that seem impossible. The other four I care far less about.

Drowning refugees is an everyday occurrence (sad but true) ... this is a first for sub tourism going pear shaped.
The monies spent on touring a underwater grave site would probably be better spent saving lives in Greece or Italy, but that's not the world we live in.

Now think about all the monies that are going to spent, mostly on high priced lawyers, to try to make a case around the waiver all the passengers signed.

A case against whom? Oceangate is not surviving this and has few assets (especially now that the sub is ruined in some fashion). There may have been insurance but who knows given how sketchy everything was. Mothership was 50% owned by an indigenous tribe in NFLD. That won't end well.
