Rc 390!

I'm getting mine tomorrow.
Then that was you tonight at l&l with your brother on his honda cafe? he was saying you guys picked it up and came straight there. I'd never seen one in person before but that's pretty sweet man. Very cool bike. Saw you ride up didn't even realize what I was looking at until I saw you parked. Congrats!

Yup, that was me there. Once I get some more seat time in (this weekend) I'll try and make a writeup on my thoughts on it. So far, it's been a ball of fun, even while breaking it in.

Does it feel like Honda Cup?

No, it feels like a 1-banger KTM.

Pic for those interested:

I am surprised no one has posted a review of how they like their RC390 yet. People must have some miles on them now to share their experience?

Poor young fella who races his 390 Cup bike in SOAR has less than 100 kms on it, and it already ate a motor.

In fairness, KTM USA is going to be taking care of it. Since it's a Cup bike and will be used in that series, the engine is sealed.

I'm pretty interested in knowing what the failure mode was, but we may never know.

LOL. "Take care of" as in no charge? That is not what was explained to me by KTM. It is a sealed engine so their 3rd party has to fix it. And it was then explained to me that I would get the bill. Hopefully that is not the case with only 100 kms on it. And this result is the same scenario that developed with the BSB test runs.

I cannot see how that could be good for their " Ready to race" mentality. Surely they will have to cover premature low km failures, otherwise bye bye Cup. Who in their right mind would support that??

His Dad told me they are on route to Road America this week, i guess there is a KTM place on the way to Wisconsin that will be installing a new motor in the bike in time for him to go racing next weekend, didn't sound like he was going to be billed for the repairs. He's Irish, i would have been able to tell if it was an out of pocket repair.
