Question for both sexs

My gf doesn't ride and will actually fall asleep on the back, even on spirited rides. She won't come for rides anymore because she finds it way boring (which is why she falls asleep) and thinks that falling asleep on the back of a supersport bike (she usually rides with a friend of mine, not on my 650R) probably isn't a great idea. But she encourages me to go do my own hobbies even if it means less time with her. She'd rather I be happy. Only downside is I kind of wanted to get into some longer 2up tours or maybe bike camping but she won't come with.

A gf that also rides could be cool but, like others have said, if that's all you have in common it won't make the relationship.

Have you tried looking at bikes she would be less afraid of falling asleep on? Not that falling asleep is good but something where if her grip falters your not worried about her safety?

I have seen some kind of seat cowl thingy that opens into a back rest, or I could just get a back rest. I know one exists for my bike. Or get a cruiser. But I'm not interested in any of those things and she doesn't see any appeal in riding on a bike anyway so it would be pointless.

Why is it I think there is more to this story?

I agree that sounded really odd
I only started riding in the summer of 09 and until this season had never had a passenger. I also crashed in both my first (2009) and second (2010) season. Gf won't ride with me until I've got more experience under my belt and haven't crashed for awhile. So the times we've gone for rides she rides with a friend that I met through her. Good guy. He rides more aggressively than me as well which, in my mind anyway, would mean it would be more fun. But she never really seemed interested, then fell asleep once or twice out of bordom, now she just tells me to go ride with that guy or on my own if I want to ride because she's both not interested and worried she will fall asleep and fall off.

I have since ridden with two different passengers on multiple occasions without issues but my gf is just not interested in coming along anyway. The other two girls (my friends' gfs) seem to love it.

Does it make sound more or less strange if I also mention that we don't really have anything in common? haha Going on 5 years together next month though.

Nothing wrong with the GF friends riding 2 up :) maybe the cutest friend likes the bike camping as well ;) (thank me later lol)

They are my friends' girlfriends, not my girlfriend's friends. I already thought about taking them bike camping but my gf told me it would be "weird" for me to spend the night with some other girl (regardless of whether I was cheating on her or not, she would trust me not to) but still said I could do it if I really wanted to. I had typed up a longer response to this but then I was posting too much crap about my personal life and that of my friends so that's all the info you get, lol.

As long as you're happy.
Then again, I'm not the person to be taking relationship advice from

fair play. all in good fun buddy.

LMAO!!!!!!!

I second that. Leave the helmet on boys :P

My bf rides, and Im not sure that I would want to date someone that didnt, we really enjoy being able to go out for a ride together even if its short whenever we want. We do share more then that though, as others have stated having similar core/life values, and other hobbies helps too!

Hahaha! As opposed to the 100% of hot dudes? ;)
Unfortunately there are two types of people that motorcycles tend to attract. People that are interested in the activity of riding, and people who see bikes as a means to get more attention from the opposite sex. (Kinda like why some guys get into bands to get chicks). This goes for both guys and girls.

The thing is, if they are in the second group they are probably not getting much attention without a bike. Why is that? Cause chances are they are ugly as hell. Hope that explains it. ;)

You forgot the third group, for which any attention is not enough; attention whores.
