Thanks. I'm starting to SLOWLY leave the Maverick dream behind and focus on something more...family oriented...

I'm a big fan of the separate compartment for children.

Point blank asked my wife what the issue is with the Maverick, and the following were reasons:

- She thinks I'll get bored of it as quickly as I do of every other car
- She doesn't want her work things sliding around

I kind of agree with #1 as I have a tendency to swap cars often, but #2 I can deal with.

Maverick search back on.

Had some free time so I changed up the audio in the F150. Took out the Audiocontrol amp/dsp and replaced it with a pair Helix amps/dsp upping the power and processing. My first time ordering anything from Latvia :)

Welp…goodbye GTI. It was an awesome 1.5 years and I loved that car.

But time to move on. Maverick ain’t no GTI, but the Ecoboost motor is no slouch either.

All that glorious space for junk…

I would have preferred a lighter colour but hard to find the options I wanted in used.

Now to figure out WTF is up with tonneau covers, racks, and bed organizations.

I’d like a roof / bed rack so I can carry more camping stuff, as well as going to SO and converting to blue plates instead of commercial as why pay for plate renewals and higher 407 bills unnecessarily.

It’s cheap(ish), relatively fuel efficient, and wow what a different in driving height compared to the GTI.

If only it had stiffer suspension and a better soundtrack it’d be a usable GTI.

Engine or radio? EA888 was a pretty terrible sounding engine (but I have low hopes for the ecoboost sounding good either).
Both. The GTI had a great sound system. Unfortunately the ‘good’ sound was all piped in through the speakers and synthesized.

VW Soundaktor is a special driver mounted to the firewall to make zoom zoom noises. I'm surprised more manufacturers don't use the stereo to make their cars sound less crappy.

I was ready to rip that thing out on many occasions. When it’s cold / freezing it rattles against the glass and is horribly annoying.

Can't change to blue plates once registered but the black are free renewal as well when in personal name.

Ok thanks. Only reason I wanted to convert was to get the free renewal and I thought 407 rates were lower.

Turns out I was wrong on both fronts.

Thanks!

BTW...checked the numbers and the Maverick 0-60mph is 0.1s faster than the GTI. Nice surprise.

Congrats!! 🥳

So now that I’m a truck guy….

What’s recommendations for organizing the bed? For now I threw in some 2x4s in the slots to prevent wife’s stuff from rolling about (most important reason to replace GTI is so she can use it…happy to say she took it to work today)!

Thinking of a bed extender that flips back in to keep things secure as a nicer option and just trying to figure out if I need a dedicated vehicle specific one or can I use a generic / universal option.

I’ve got a tri-fold tonneau cover but would like rails on it to install additional storage similar to below…recommendations that don’t cost 3k or more!?

After 300km of driving…it drives well. Accelerates well, stops decent, but cornering is obviously a weak point. Happy so far except for ‘low oil pressure’ light that came on 3x and then disappeared.
