Pickup Trucks

Buddy bought a used 21 Tacoma with 100k on it for $43+ at the Toyota dealer last month (plus they charged him another $1200 for the electric rust module scam). Only a few thousand less than the same truck brand new at current offers. Obviously not great with money but a lousy dealer also imo. Truck looks old/dated inside (feels like a 90’s vehicle inside) and gets worse mileage than my full-size F150 so I just don’t understand why they’re so popular. I do think some of them look really good though styling wise.

If that number scares you it's time to consider a Toyota. To me 150KM is just broken in.
Well it’s cheaper to do the upcoming water pump, belts, spark plugs, and transmission fluid change than buying a new car….only 2k…

Tacoma holds thier prices very well , which is also part of the attraction. Finding out mileage was about the same as my full size ford was disappointing. With a smaller box , and a smaller cab , with a fuel tank about half the size of. I don’t know why they are so popular either . I won’t buy another.

Anyone I know that has one has similar complaints. But they all love them.

Not fuel efficient
Not comfortable inside
Not that roomy
not quiet on the highway

But each one loves it. Brand loyalty is a thing.

Todays the day the Maverick dealer lets me know if I need to make the trek north to sign docs…

last day of school was Friday, December 20th before winter break...school secretary drove her brand new, less than one month old F150 to school...she goes out for lunch only to find the whole interior had melted...dash is disintegrated as is the headliner and everything else...apparently there was some electrical fire which died out on it's own due to lack of oxygen...dealership (no idea which one) tells her 'you'll have a new one sitting in your driveway before you get home'...what a way to end/start the school year/winter break...geesh...

Like the Jeep thing I guess.

My friends Jeep just burned down a couple weeks ago as well and he's not a happy fella about it.

If they know they have a problem, a few free trucks is a hell of a lot cheaper than issuing a do not drive and recall on F150's.
I'm on a few F150 pages and have not seen one case of them spontaneously burning down. It happens in all vehicles for various reasons but there doesn't seem to be a problem specific to F150's.

Whew...that Maverick I was looking at got sold over Christmas apparently. Good thing too as they were mucking around with the numbers.

I wouldn't even mind the newer Rangers in all honesty. But apparently they're so close in terms of price / fuel efficiency / usage case to the F150...it's in a weird spot.

Found a nice hybrid Maverick elsewhere which may work better. Will it's FWD so it's not a huge issue as that's all I've had with the exception of the WRX...but it wouldn't have the 4k tow (which I don't need...just want).
