Pickup Trucks

This might interest you. I didn't end up buying here but I did chat with them a bit about F150's when I was looking.
Great thanks! Close enough to work I can pop over there this week. I need to drive it to get it out of my system.

It has optional 4g Hotspot removal? Is that for the tinfoil hat crowd?

That is a decent price and looking truck. Let us know how your test drive goes @mimico_polak

Will do thanks. Hoping to try both the AWD and Hybrid variants. But I won't be making any rash decisions.

The truck is very well regarded on reddit (both within the echo chamber and outside of it), so unfortunately there's no clear side here.

ok, let us know what you buy the day of your test drive... LOL

Friend in high school drove a Datsun pickup truck, rwd, single seat long box . You could fix almost anything with a long screwdriver and WD40.
I wonder if anyone brought back a basic truck , like the Hyundai pony of pickups if a market exists ?

I had had one of these back in the day - 1976 Datsun PL620 King Cab. I doubt you'd see too many ram ranchers buying one now...

Would love to see a small-ish simple truck come to market.
I mean in today's economy if someone brought out a decent vehicle for under 30K I'm sure they would see sales.
Heck, just bring one over from another part of the world where they are already a top seller...

I suspect emissions and profits are two good reasons this doesn't happen. Scam US emissions standards allow more emissions as length times width increases. On the profit front, north americans are gullible and stupid and have been conditioned to believe that you need an f-150 or bigger to pull a utility trailer. Manufacturers play along and set zero tow rating for most vehicles below their largest. If they brought out a <$30K truck that could tow 5000 lbs, that puts a real hurting on their sales of $60K+ trucks that were bought to do the same thing (and while larger trucks cost more to build, they also have a far bigger profit margin).

Maybe, but large SUV sales are doing ok, as are minivans, so when the truck in the household gets used as a kid hauler also the family tends to enjoy having the space and lux of the bigger more expensive truck.
I'm not making excuses, in the end it comes down to "buy what you like and what fits your budget". Of course just like houses and other toys people often spend more than they need but hey that's on them.

My guess is they are concerned either they won't sell in the NA market or worse yet they will and cannibalize upmarket higher profit sales.

It is not even like they need to ground up engineer a new model for some manufactures as they sell something similar in other markets.... just update to meet NA standards (if they don't).

The AWD Maverick with heavy duty tow package is rated for 4,000 lbs. The Ridgeline the same or higher. That oughta be enough for most folks.

Exactly. And the hybrid Maverick can tow 2,000lbs out the gate which is enough for majority of people.

Our Odyssey is rated for 3500lbs unbraked towing...that's plenty for anything I've needed to tow in the last 10 years. Hell the Volt towed everything I asked of it in the last 3 years while I had it.

The GTI on the other hand...I haven't bothered with a hitch because I don't plan on keeping it too long.

I looked at the basic XL as we had discussed earlier. There's unfortunately a few items that I'd like to be included which brings me to the XLT with Luxury Package (or whatever it's called).

So that cost just keeps going up and up and up.

Some items I'd really like (not need): remote / keyless start, heated seats and steering wheel, spray in bed liner, tow package (2k for hybrid, 4k for AWD), and those things require the price to jump unfortunately.

Regardless, Maverick is still on the list...just getting lower on it, but I haven't crossed it off yet. A test drive may kill it off completely, or bring it up to the front.
I refuse to buy anything without heated seats and probably steering wheel.
