Pickup Driver Almost Kills Motorcyclist

Makes me want a video camera for my ride. Although I have yet to encounter a situation like this on my bike there are no doubt some real losers out there who are just bent on causing problems and endangering lives just to communicate their view.

Thanks nakkers and absolute.
It's pretty much what I summed it up to by watching the pickup driver flail his arms around and then picked up a cell phone.
Did he come out of the pickup with an object in his hands that looked like a crowbar or something similar?

Yup, truck driver took out a crowbar and put it back after the rider behind started speaking to 911.

Folks. Two wrongs don't make a right. If the locals don't like bikes, I'm sure they could complain and have a law enforcement presence, generate revenue and discourage some of the behaviour. Running someone off the road is wreckless.

There is no doubt in my mind the riders were running well above the speed limit at the beginning of the video and subsequently all vehicles were driving carelessly/wrecklessly with vehicles parked on both sides of the road with more then likely people near by.

Proving it is another matter.

I do wonder what happenned when the police arrived...........after seeing the video, I suspect all would receive some form of charges.

This was in Kentucky. Anyone could have been packing more than just a crowbar or camera.

What's not confused is that someone objected to a particular road being used as a test track even though the method used to express that objection was a fail.

This seldom happens around here. The locals have instead mastered the fine art of pea gravel in strategic locations.

And those locals are complete scum just as this redneck in the video is.

I love how the guy objects to dangerous driving by driving far worse than anyone else in that video. Classic. Hope that loser goes to jail.

Really, i wouldn't be surprised if you see similiar on the forks.... I mean, you can't blame them for being angry about all the noise, however there is a way to deal with stuff, and that video isn't it.

Fast or slow-motion does not change the lean angles on the bike.

You should try and get your trike above 20km/h once in a while ;) speeds greater than that no longer require handle bar steering bike but need Push steering to go navigate around corners.

Watching that video reminded me of the Clark Griswold in his Taurus in the movie Christmas Vacation.

I can't hear the audio on my work computers, can someone write a transcript of what was being said in the convo at the stop sign?
Or at least the jist of it? :)

Really? All i have to say is u need to get out of the house more often

He's correct.

you cannot fake lean angle, that was a rural road, speed limit would be 55mph at the high end, more likely 35-45.

the lead bike was exceeding 55mph by quite a bit during most of that video.

for the record, and before anyone jumps on it, I DO NOT OWN A BIKE.

All i saw was one awesome road to haul *** on lol.
I see from the lean angle on your pick you are going to fast, slow down you ****er

Someone is once again confused that double yellows mean no passing. (At least in Ontario, it's not.) Could be different in this particular state.

Not in corners though.. In corners, you should know that it's still illegal to go into the opposite direction lane, if basic common sense doesn't already prevent you from doing it.

Hrmmm....is it? I know we went over this in another thread recently. I thought it was still legal, if colossally stupid. My bad.

If you go back a few posts, you'll find that the reference to fast or slow-motion does not refer to the speed of the bike.

It referred to speeding up or slowing down the playback speed of the video taken. Changing the playback speed would not change the bike's hard lean angles shown on the video.

My guess given the proximity of buildings to the road and the number of hard and blind turns would have been about a 45 mph overall speed limit, and if you play back the video in HD mode, you can find 8 or so speed signs at various bends giving what in Ontario would be advisory speeds of 25 mph to 35 mph.

Now that being a different jurisdiction, those "advisory" speeds may carry more legal weight there than they do here.

This happened to me... We were riding Mt Laurier last summer and as I passed, a pick-up swerved half way into the lane (2 lane bi-way, not 4). My reaction was pretty much the same; i widened my stance and continued through the pass. i recall the rider who witnessed this happening in front of her said to me later that it scared her into avoiding passing. no kiddin eh?! some people's ignorance is beyond comprehension. cheers!

ps. and yes, i'm riding the TOTD there; going way too fast.
