Not sure if this is lane splitting but I do it almost daily.
When getting off work, there is a street one lane only, it's wide enough for 1.5 cars. There are usually a long line to make a left turn at the lights so it's usually a good 10 min wait. I use the .5 of the line to get up front to make a right.
Some drivers don't like it so they move their cars closer to the curb. So u just go around that car in a C shape.

I do not think that would apply for him as in Mr. Bunda's case the lane he did it in could either go forward or turn. For this one it appears the lane can only turn left or right but not go forward.
To pass a car in the same lane legally, you have to ensure that they are turning left. So you pass one, maybe two, but not more because there's no way you could ensure they are turning left.
