Peacefully Protest at Police Stations/Queens Park Against Bike Thefts?

If you think that's all cops do? You're on cloud effing 9 pal.

Try being with one and hearing the stories she goes through. Your opinion would change fast!

Do I think they could do more? Of course in a perfect world it would make sense.

Personal safety is the MOST important thing. They're are making the community safe. Everything else becomes #2

bahahahahahaahahh

Cops in canada take a reactive approach to policing instead of proactive. They come AFTER the crime has been committed to gather the info, write up a report and let it sit unsolved lol

Anyone who thinks that they're making a community "safe" is living on another planet

For those of you who will call me out and say im full of **** take a look here.

Clearance rates are steadily increasing

Police weighted clearance rates have been steadily increasing over the past seven years, from 33.5% in 2003 to 39.4% in 2010 (Chart 1). This time period coincides with decreasing crime rates as well as increasing police strength.

So 33-39% of crimes that are actually REPORTED, anyone else besides the weather person who can get away with doing their job 33-39% of the time here?? hahaha

And to top it off "cleareance rate" just means that someone was charged, or a charge has been recommended, no conviction. Im willing to bet half the charges laid get tossed out in court or defeated. So our police force solves 15-20% of crimes at best, these statistics remind me of a certain character

i know what im saying...i hear the stories from the brass.
its pretty ridiculous.

but no doubt personal safety first, but tucked right in under there is spending most days catching speeders...quick cash instead of prevention

Well I got news for you. Your "brass" friends are apart of the group that are lazy and milk our system. Yep I said that.

Their not all like that, just like we all are not all bike theifts .

So don't group your lazy disgraceful "brass" friends with the ones that actually do their job

Thank you

Well it appears you know it all.

End of thread.

I'm sure you would chage your tune if your bike was stolen. Theft affects everyone when we renew our
Insurance each year. Like the OP after my bike was stolen I sat in my garage many nights with a shotgun waiting for the bastards to come back. stupid? Maybe crazy? Sure illegal of course. I'm still
****** after 3 years.

NO. Unlike most people I fully realize that at any point my bike can be loaded into a van or truck in less than 30 seconds.
I have full insurance so I will get another one.
It is a fun toy. It does not define who I am.

Bike get's stolen, insurance co gives you money back.

Is there a problem? Am i missing something?

It's just two wheels, go out and buy another one.

Think bike theft is bad here, go over to England it's really bad there.

have you ever been in a hit in run before?
how about rape?
how about i come over there and murder your wife then insurance gives you money and a new wife to boot. an ex pr0n star!

you know what the problem w/ the argument you're making? you don't account for two things

#1. Time
#2. Stress

There difference between a child, girl friend, car, house and bike are there monetary values, their sentimental and moral values are decided by society and the individual. How about we just prevent something if we can? I'm not saying protesting is the right way to go about it though....

Umm, i don't even know how to respond to your dribble. Lets compare rape to a bike theft wow.

I'll bow out now.

@ 油井緋色
Please stay inside. I think it will be safer for everyone.

Not the cops fault you make your bike available for theft.
Anyways...you buy bike and insurance...your bike gets stolen...thief makes money...new buyer gets a bike cheap...insurance gives you money for a new one...motorcycle companies get you for 2 bikes this year...ups all our insurance rates a bit...cops have some paper work to do...keeps them busy. Everyone benefits...it's a win win situation....oh ya we the consumer...we pay and pay..etc.You get stressed a bit...pop some pills the doctor scores...the pharmacy and drug company all win. Tale of the story is...if you truly love your bike...take care of it...don't put it in harm's way. Tell my kids this sheet all the time.

Where did anyone say they are happy when their bike gets stolen or they don't feel for the people who do?

You want to go have a public hissy fit to acomplish nothing more than piss off the people you think are supposed to dedicate the rest of their career to find the bike YOU got stolen?

Really?

The police take your report and you go to insurance. If your bike shows up they call you. They don't give a **** about looking for the thing YOU lost.

Clear?

By all means keep calling them and asking the same question over and over again. That will make them want to help you.

If people are just so worried that their life will be ruined if their bike gets stolen and the trauma they will irrevocably suffer then all can be avoided if you STOP RIDING and sell your bike. Ahhh doesn't that stress and fear melt away.

I can be critical of the Cops but there is a priority for "criticality".
We have a SERIOUS GUN problem. Let's get that handled and under control because YOU might just get shot as they steal your bike.
See what I did there :)

You guys are thinking about this all wrong. What you need to do is take advantage of the bike thefts and lack of police investigation. There's a huge potential here! Buy a late model sportbike for cheap, eg. rash, etc., get it insured, get it stolen, then claim it! Helloo, why am I the only one to think of this??!!!

Uhm are you working with that Tim Thomson guy?

If YOU want to SIGNIFICANTLY cut down crime then all you have to do is GET INVOLVED.
It used to be like that until you sheeps were told to mind your business don't say anything.
Now you have people laying int he streets injured from a car hitting them while others just drive around them.

Men used to protect their neighborhoods meaning they had a general presence and sense of what was happening in a 10 house radius.
I am not saying to be a nosy neighbor. Don't confuse the two. If we know each other and I see someone or a car I don't recognize and people "casing" your house, men used to walk over and "befriend" the visitors ask them how long have you known "Tim" (real name is Mike). If things looked a bit dicey then you grab another neighbor. Now you have a bunch of video game playing wimps.

And you wonder why crooks expand their footsteps because nobody was there to hinder or stop them when they started small.

See all that graffiti and lack of respect. It did not happen before.
So why is it more prevalent now?
Who changed?

I'd rather see us protest to have the police concentrate on something other than speeders. There are so many worse crimes that go unsolved and even significantly worse driving offenses that are ignored, even when they happen right in front of a cruiser, than speeding.

Bike thefts aren't a huge deal to me. Insurance is there for a reason. I'll admit it sucks but you pay the deductible, put it a little time, and you get a new one.

No worries, the police will arrive, run you over and finish the job

Relax guys. The cops are not going to do anything about it and this won't stop. Just make sure you don't park your bike in some condo underground parking or something similar.
From what I've seen so far, Canada is the best country for criminals of all types. Most of the time, even when they do get caught, which is rare, they get a slap on the wrist or walk away scott free with a decent lawyer representing them.

Forget about it!

So in other words you have nothing hahahahah

truth hurts, doesnt it. 60,000 -100,000 $ a year to hand out speeding tickets and write up reports.

WRONG they get paid $300 per DAY to go to court even if to fight a $50 ticket for no signature on ownership. I have seen this a few times.
They have a set amount of court time in their 40 hours BUT if you write 10 more tickets per week then add it up all you need to do is go to court 10+ days making $300 per day so those tickets translate to $3k. It's a self imposed bonus system.

Look at the Sunshine list from last year and you see 2 rookie traffic cops on the DVP pulling in $150k. hmmm.

Ticketing is Business, Business's are in business to MAKE MONEY.
So yeah why would they REDUCE their BUSINESS.

Again 1 cop $300 for a $50 ticket of some old guy not signing his ownership.

You get to decide how much more money you want to make by handing out more tickets. How cool is that? :)

* I respect and appreciate the god work Police do. I do not respect those that are gaming the system which are no different than what criminals do.
I received a ticket for not signing my ownership (new bike, paperwork folded neatly by dealer...I forgot about that signature because I don't buy a new car monthly). Keep in mind other officers checked the same ownership but never looked for the signature. How much nicer would it have been for said officer to say something like " hey buddy here is my pen just sing this will ya"?
