Official 2012 Summer Olympic Games Thread

Don't knock it until you tried it

Edit: What's with all the hate for sports that are not popular here? The above could be said about hockey, lacrosse, etc. I wish people had a more open mind, after all, the Olympics are a welcome break from the all hockey all the time sports coverage we get here.
I have played it, multiple times. That's how I know I don't like it.
I also don't like basketball, don't like baseball and soccer isn't a game I follow either. Basically, if you can't flat out run someone over, I'm not interested.

That closing ceremony was a bore-fest

I guess you are right about Sun, I thought I heard the starter issue stand right before Sun fell in as some of the other swimmers were still moving around, I guess not. The Canadian 4x100, look for a reaplay almost from above. You could clearly see him step on the line exactly once, he corrected it the very next step.

i know the olympics are over and all but this was just way too funny:

Is he trying to clear the hurdle for his teamate?

have been following the Olympic game

biggest turn off
- mary spencer loss in the first fight to an apponent she beat twice before.
- neither Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin make it to the game. I remember the exciting duel between Chinese and USA team 4 yrs ago
- Simon Whitfield crash
- where is Elton John?
- Spice women

the big monent

- watching misty may and kerri walsh win again
- Oscar Pistorius on the track. Such an inspiration of what's possible.
- the dramaic take of russian in man volleyball final against brazil
- usa vs spain man basketball until 3rd quarter
- brazil loss in soccer... to mexico

I agree, the Spice Girls were a disappointment. And what was worse was "The Beady Eye". Oh phhhlease! The Gallagher brothers couldn't unite to sing ONE song????

For the highs... How did you miss the soccer match where the Canadian women won Bronze?? That was pretty special to me.
And when UK's Mo Farah was getting the Gold for the 5K run. The crowd just went wild for him. You could see how emotional he was. I bet he was considered the outcast all his life and now this whole country was behind him. Really a special moment!

And one last special moment - Jessica Ennis' abs. Oh good god, she's hot! Followed closely by the Czech Beach Volleyball duo!

At least one of the Oasis song make it to olympic. There is not even 10 sec of Elton John...

I only comment on the program I watched... I missed the soccer match :( (shame on me)

Mo Farah is cool and I like his facial reaction. But the wild crowd effect is because he is in his home country, imo that has more to do than what he accomplished. That said, I wish to see him perform in marathon.

oh Jessica Ennis! I tried to be sport focused and not discuss any eye candies.. don't get me start on that :D

Man that's part of sports! These absolultely fit, stunningly beautiful women just make me miss the Olympics even more! That's one part we don't get in the winter Olympics.

speed skating helps and so does skeleton...or other tight fitting racing suits :D

You've got to be kidding me!! The 5000/10000 double is HUGE. Not to mention that these were very tactical races with very exciting finishes. That's kind of like saying Bolt's 100/200 double is not that big of a deal. Marathons are for the old or the slow (relatively speaking). Highlight of the track portion for me was the 800m final. The fastest 800m ever and in what style, not to mention that 1:43.77 got you 8th, that's CRAZY.

dont get me wrong not trying to dis-credit his accomplishment. What I am trying to say is the wild crowd because of home-town affect. If he did that in beijing or Rio I am sure the crowd won't be as wild.
