Now THIS is how you complain.

****, what vehicle documentation am I supposed to be putting the licence plate stickers on? I just stick them on my car and throw the rest of the sticker-paper-thing out.

It's the ownership isn't it? Crap.

Its true, to serve and collect. Just north of lawrence on keele its the same thing, no right turns off of north park drive during the rush hours and i see a cop sitting in the entrance to the park (pops the curb and sits on the walkway...) just waiting to get people which then completely screws up traffic all so (s)he can get some tickets for the quota that they "dont have"
Edit: and yeah you gotta put a sticker on your plate and another one of the back of the ownership, cop pulled me over for no front plate on my car (09 lancer and its on the side, he didnt notice it) and he just told me to get it on mine (its a copy and my father has the original one with the sticker on it).

A cop told me the "No quota" bit thirty five years ago. The rest of the trip is downhill.

I'll play devils advocate here.

I don't believe everything I read by media and journalists. They are paid to put out a good story, evoke a response, and drive more people to their website/newspaper/etc. And it was a good one, wasnt it? I'm willing to wager some of the alleged events are false, embellished, or half truths.

Either that, or the guy is a giant weiner when it comes to dealing with authorities.

^^^ I don't know if I would totally agree with that. Yes some of that could be made up but realistically I think it happens alot. We used to have somewhat standard speed limits of 50 k in town, 80 k rural and 100 k on the highway. Now you see what they call "calming zones" in between where the limit will drop down to say 60 k and then 50. I call them revenue zones as you can usually find a cruiser sitting there with radar handing out tickets. And you know that's all fine because you should be paying attention to the signs. So you get caught and have to cough up a few bucks. What really hurts though is when your insurance gets a hold of it and all of a sudden that 1 ticket for 5 k over doubles your premium because you are "high risk". That's what I find ridiculous.
What he says about the police being too busy to investigate break ins or fraud is probably true. They are all out on the street issuing tickets to "innocent people" to collect revenue. Catching real criminals takes a lot of hard work and effort and they don't have time for that.

(Sorry if I'm ranting here but it's a pet peeve of mine and the article I think really hits the nail on the head)

I used to be a heavy speeder...... I've gotten a few tickets in my time.

Don't tell me enforcement doesnt work.

And, with the 50 over law. I dont dare go more than 150 on the highway like I regularly used to (well in the car anyway, cant say the same for the bike ;))

p.s. I just signed up for a new policy for my moto with TD insurance. The broker gave me my rate. As soon as I divulged my 3 minors in the last 3 years, my price shot up around $75. Not a big deal.

one more and say bye bye to your insurance

Over 100,000 Canadians died for THIS system, what a waste.

Big city....big bills.If you don't like it there,leave.I did.And i'm really glad i did.

old news. For those who live under a rock and just had a moment of epiphany, I feel sorry for them

When you purchase the sticker, it comes with two other serial stickers.
The MTO keeps one, you put on on the back of the ownership (plate portion side) and the tag on your plates.
You can actually get a ticket if the cop is having a slow day...

Not surprising to me. Instead of investigating crime, they're out there robbing people on the side of the road (I don't blame the cops as they only follow their service directives). I see them doing traffic enforcement all the time. So I am always on the lookout for them. When I see them, I try to follow them at a distance, so I know where they are but they can't tell for sure whether I'm speeding or not. Sometimes I even pay attention to the traffic and pedestrians

True!

You can tell if he is on patrol handing out tickets or just going about his business, just by his cruiser speed

Guess I'll just have to hope I don't get pulled over by a bored cop any time in the next 6 months or so.

Lol that's like the left from Lakeshore to Yonge they nab people turning left from the center lane all the time.

Yep, it used to be legal to turn left form the centre lane but than they changed it and the enforcement started. Why did they have to change it? No idea! I avoid that left turn altogether after those scumbags pulled me over there for absolutely NO REASON (I turned from the left lane like I'm supposed to, signaled, everything) and after the officer went through my bike top to bottom, looking for something, ANYTHING, to ticket me with I was issued with a ticket for "worn tires".......seriously, what a joke.

meh, globe writer is just venting...you'd think doing car testing you'd check plates and paperwork when you take it, i make a note of doing this when i borrow a car.

as for the other stuff, live and learn, sucks on the ident theft though, that's a pain in the arse to deal with...

sounds like someone in this guys neighbourhood annoyed the popo and there was some backlash, but if you have a neighbour complain about how you park, they're gonna get you...
